Product Manager, Chemical Process Simulation

Chemstations, a Datacor company, has served the chemical engineering community for over 30 years, delivering chemical process simulation software called CHEMCAD. To this day, we remain committed to providing tools that help advance the field through a dynamic and novel approach.   

The Role:

We are seeking a seasoned product leader for our family of chemical process simulation software products, currently built around CHEMCAD. This individual will play a key role in enabling Chemstations’ success in delivering best-in-class software and excellent customer experience, while meeting our business objectives. This individual will provide leadership in the following areas:  

Customer Engagement: Develop a deep understanding of customers’ pain points, value drivers, and desired business outcomes. Represent the voice of the customer to enable Chemstations to deliver exceptional product experiences and value. Leverage insights to make product decisions.  

Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment: Continuous collaboration across Strategy, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Training & Support to inform our product strategy and roadmap. Harness the collective knowledge of the team to identify market opportunities, operational improvements, and customer value. Drive alignment in how we execute the product strategy, roadmap, and go to market activities.  

Product Strategy & Roadmap: Leveraging market research, customer insights, and stakeholder feedback, define an outcome-oriented product strategy and roadmap. Ensure alignment to the overall objectives of the organization and the creation of customer value.  

Roadmap Execution: Enable the team to successfully deliver roadmap projects through thorough definition of the customer problem, required capabilities, desired outcomes, and acceptance criteria. Work with the development team to identify and resolve bottlenecks in product design. Enable the rest of the organization to be successful in their go-to-market functions through active collaboration, communication, and problem solving.  

Responsibilities: 

The Product Manager is responsible for enabling the product team to create customer value and achieve business objectives. This is primarily achieved through leading by example, influencing through collaboration, and motivating the team to achieve great outcomes. Responsibilities include:  

  • Overall responsibility for the CHEMCAD product strategy and roadmap; ensure the successful execution of the roadmap in support of achieving business objectives.  
  • Ensure stakeholder representation and alignment within the context of the product strategy and roadmap; build supporting processes and procedures.  
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Customer Success, to help form and help lead a customer product advisory group to collect insights, validate ideas, and communicate plans.  
  • Research, document, and communicate market needs, customer pain points, and opportunities. 
  • Oversee and conduct feature discovery and interviews with customers and stakeholders, document requirements, and iterate with the development team on requirement lists and design proposals. 
  • Maintain the product roadmap and work with the development team on the release plan and project backlog.  
  • Provide thought leadership through presenting at industry conferences & webinars, authoring blog posts, and collaborating with Marketing on various initiatives.  
  • Define, track, communicate, and improve various metrics important to the business.  

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience related to process simulation and computer-aided engineering software; previous product management or software leadership experience preferred 
  • Intrinsic motivation and the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead through influence
  • Strong strategic & outcome orientation and a proven track record of creating customer value
