The Role:
We’re looking for a versatile and experienced IT and DevOps Systems Engineer to support and evolve the infrastructure behind our industry-leading LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). This role bridges engineering and IT operations, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and automation of the systems that power Baytek’s LIMS platform—used by some of the world’s largest chemical processors and oil refineries. You’ll work closely with development teams to modernize environments, implement CI/CD pipelines, automate operational processes, and architect robust cloud-native systems using AWS and Azure. This role also includes responsibility for general IT services including systems monitoring, patching, and provisioning. You’ll shape the DevOps culture, have autonomy, and make a direct impact on platform reliability and engineering velocity. Join a growing team modernizing core infrastructure that supports mission-critical software used in chemical labs and industrial facilities around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, implement, and maintain infrastructure for our LIMS product across dev and production environments.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to support fast, reliable software delivery.
- Automate deployment and environment provisioning tasks using tools like PowerShell, Bash, and Terraform.
- Collaborate with software engineers to troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues.
- Monitor system health and performance across AWS and Azure platforms.
- Support internal IT and systems responsibilities for the LIMS engineering team.
- Implement and manage patching, system provisioning, and ongoing system maintenance for both cloud and on-prem environments.
- Document operational procedures and automate repetitive tasks wherever possible.
Qualifications:
- 3–7+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or IT systems engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, including services like EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, App Services, and related tooling.
- Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. GitLab, BitBucket, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting or automation with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- Familiarity with managing Windows and Linux-based environments.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with both software engineers and business stakeholders.
- Additional Experience That’s A Plus
- Experience supporting LIMS or QC software in chemical, manufacturing, or regulated industries.
- Exposure to hybrid cloud/on-premise architectures.
- Familiarity with security, compliance, and backup practices in cloud-hosted environments.
This is a hybrid role based out of Corpus Christi, Texas.
