Position Summary:

The DSA data engineer will play a crucial role in driving innovation and implementing advanced data strategy leveraging AI solutions for a Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO). This position requires expertise in data engineering, data science, ETL development, and integration of artificial intelligence solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and lead data engineering efforts for the organization
- Understand and apply AI algorithms to support data requirements
- ETL development
- Support implementation of Army CoPilot and similar AI initiatives to meet data management objectives
- Educate stakeholders on available DoD and Army-approved AI capabilities, including tools such as Ask Sage, NIPR GPT, CAMO GPT, Liger, and others and their applicability to data management
- Customer engagement
- Define and document data strategy, reference materials, processes and policies
- Integration of AI solutions to improve existing business processes
- Serve as a reliable subject matter expert for customer support process development
- Serve as a reliable subject matter expert for AI software implementation including understanding of generative vs agentic AI models and applicability to data
- Provide support to the organization’s data transformation initiatives
- Support improvement and innovation in using the organization’s existing data environments including Army 365 (A365)/Microsoft Office 365 based environments
Basic Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, data science, or a related technical field
- Hands-on experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) development and data integration
- Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases
- Familiarity with AI tools and solutions and their application to data workflows
- Understanding of generative vs agentic AI models and how they apply to data use cases
- Experience supporting AI-related initiatives such as Army CoPilot, Ask Sage, NIPR GPT, CAMO GPT, or Liger
- Experience working in Microsoft Office 365 / Army 365 (A365) data environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to develop and document data strategies, reference materials, policies, and process improvements
- Active Secret security clearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) or Army data systems
- Familiarity with DoD AI governance, compliance, and approved toolkits
- Knowledge of data architecture principles and scalable data pipelines
- Experience with Python, R, or other programming languages used in data science or AI integration
- Ability to train or educate stakeholders on available AI tools and their practical application
- Experience in customer-facing or consultative roles within government or enterprise settings
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and implement emerging AI capabilities within secure environments
