Senior Looker BI Analyst (Managed Services)

The Role:

You will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining analytics solutions, with a primary focus on business unit-specific data marts, self-service data models, building front-end analytical visualisations/reports (typically Looker), and training business users.

You will help deploy analytical data models, advise clients on development, and conduct co-development sessions to share your knowledge with customers. Being able to understand what technologies make a BI function a success; you will also have a good understanding of data warehouse technology on offer such as BigQuery and Snowflake.

As a BI Analyst you will work alongside:

  • Analytics engineers: Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining end-to-end business intelligence solutions, with a primary focus on enterprise-wide data warehouse design, data models, and storage optimisation. Typically with dbt, Snowflake/BigQuery and Google Cloud.
  • Architects: Responsible for designing the solution and data architectures. data architects design the end-to-end business intelligence solutions with a focus on designing the most optimal data model and architecture solution.
  • Data Engineers: Responsible for building applications which connect systems, collect data, process that data into a useful format. Often this data is ‘big’ and requires distributed frameworks to move and process. A data engineer is a key cog in a data platform as they look after the acquisition of data for analytics, and connecting the output of analytics to operational systems.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

Platform implementations:

  • Design and Build self-service business intelligence platforms (usually Looker)
  • Build unit-specific data marts using dbt
  • Gain a deep understanding of the Looker Platform and Google BigQuery
  • Gain an understanding of the wider modern data stack
  • Work with analytics Engineers who design big data warehouses and advise on infrastructure decisions

Insights for Clients:

  • Produce actionable and insightful visualisations and dashboards from large, complex datasets in many different fields
  • Gather requirements of businesses challenges and enable them to make better decisions by analysing data and storytelling

Collaboration:

  • Share your knowledge of these tools through co-development and training sessions for clients
  • Work in a collaborative way with our customers and other team members
  • Actively propose solutions to fulfill our customer’s goals and requirements
  • Work closely with our tech partners: Google Cloud, Looker, Snowflake,dbt, fivetran.

 

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience with Looker 
  • Experience in the Google Cloud, AWS or Azure environment
  • Proficiency in SQL & GIT
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way to a wide range of audiences
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a client-facing position, ideally in a BI consultancy

Bonus Points:

  • Previous experience with dbt, Looker, Snowflake and BigQuery
  • Experience in CI/CD principles
