About the Opportunity:
Assistant Registrar ($55k-65k)
- David Zwirner seeks a full-time Assistant Registrar for immediate hire at its Los Angeles gallery. This position reports to the Registrar. The ideal candidate should have 1-3 years relevant registration, collections management and/or logistics experience. An appreciation for organization, the ability to carefully manage time and meet deadlines, and a working knowledge of contemporary art are helpful.
- Position hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10am to 6pm. The candidate will occasionally need to work additional hours.
What you’ll do:
- Assist with cataloging and processing all incoming artworks, including accurate entry of all pertinent data and uploading of associated images.
- Ensure artwork has been fully and accurately processed upon receipt (i.e. cataloged accurately; dimensions and inscriptions confirmed; frame labels and COA labels applied; verso images uploaded; packing assessed).
- Field data requests from Sales, Registration and other departments.
- Perform regular on-site location checks.
- Assist registration with condition reporting as needed.
- Assist registration with local shipping.
- Oversee and execute long-term inventory projects.
- Compile and organize all shipping-related paperwork (i.e. releases, bills of lading, etc.) on a monthly basis for filing.
- Assist registration with exhibition preparation, including with maquette production.
- Assist registration with onsite photoshoots as needed.
- Prepare and assist with Supplemental Information Sheets.
- Assist registration and operations colleagues as needed.
What we would like you to have:
- 1-3 Years of experience within a gallery or institution
- Experience within Registration, Collections Management, and or Logistics is ideal.
- BA in Art History, Art Business or similar
- Focused, reliable, exacting attention to detail
- Must be able to work with team members at all levels
- Detail oriented with experience in managing upwards.
- Strong Multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and anticipate needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross departmentally.
- Passion for and knowledge of contemporary art.
