About the Opportunity:
Temporary Archive Assistant | $26 - $30 per hour
David Zwirner seeks a part-time Freelance Archive Assistant to support its represented artists and New York gallery from approximately the end of March to the beginning of November. This role will report to an Artist Liaison, with direct support for the artist’s needs. The ideal candidate should have 1-3 years of relevant archival, registration, digital collections, and video editing experience. An appreciation for organization, the ability to carefully manage time and meet deadlines, and a working knowledge of contemporary art are helpful. This position will involve significant contact with artists and other art industry professionals; discretion and poise are essential.
What you’ll do:
- Part-time position (3 days per week): 2 days at our headquarters and 1 day offsite.
- Collect, organize, and catalog a large archive of hard drives.
- Establish and maintain a clear, efficient archival system to document media assets for easy future reference.
- Assist with additional studio and operational tasks as needed, including storage organization, basic video editing, and general studio upkeep.
- Work closely with the artist’s studio to provide support in the organization of studio materials and storage contents, including hands-on/manual tasks.
- Light manual labor related to studio and storage organization.
- Position to begin promptly and continue through the fall.
What we would like you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art History or a related field.
- An existing understanding of video and digital media formats and workflows.
- Strong digital organization and computer literacy skills.
- A detail-oriented eye for the aesthetic needs of an efficient, organized, elevated office space.
- A take-ownership approach, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive, helpful, team player attitude.
