ABOUT THE ROLE
Daymark Health is seeking a mission-driven, full-stack engineer with experience leading technical teams to join as our Principal Engineer & Tech Lead. In this role, you will set the technical strategy, ensure a secure and scalable infrastructure, and lead the development of our initial product. As Daymark’s first engineering hire, you will work closely with our VP of Product, operational leadership, and external customers to shape a transformative cancer care experience. We expect you to get to work quickly to bring our first product to market and help shape the long-term vision for our product:
- Build from the ground up: Design, develop, and deploy the foundation of our cancer care platform, with an emphasis on user experience, performance, and security.
- Customer collaboration: Spend time engaging with Daymark’s internal care team (nurses, NPs), patients, providers, and health plans to gather feedback and understand their needs, which will directly inform product development and iterations.
- Technical strategy & execution: Collaborate with leadership to define the long-term technical strategy, balancing immediate needs with scalability for the future.
- Security & compliance: Ensure that all systems are built with a strong security posture, including HIPAA compliance and adherence to SOC II standards.
- Team leadership: While this is an individual contributor role to start, you will help recruit and build the engineering team as we grow, moving into a player/coach role over time.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- In your first 6 months, you will support the launch of Daymark Health’s initial product for thousands of patients navigating cancer care. You will support implementing our EHR, CRM and will build the first version of our patient-facing app.
- In the next 12 months, you will shape the technical direction of our platform, potentially including integrations with hospital systems and a mobile patient app.
WHO YOU ARE
- Deep technical expertise: You have 6+ years of experience designing and building user-centric products. You're comfortable both standing up third-party solutions and leading contract teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Healthcare experience: Familiarity with healthcare technology, including EHRs and interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7), is a plus.
- Security-first mindset: You have experience building and maintaining secure, HIPAA-compliant systems and are comfortable with SOC II standards.
- Team leadership & hands-on: As a player/coach, you're comfortable rolling up your sleeves to code while also thinking strategically at a high level. Initially, this role will be an individual contributor, but you’ll guide the work of our contract engineering team.
- Action-oriented: You move with purpose and urgency, thriving in environments where speed and adaptability are crucial. You know how to prioritize and execute effectively in a fast-paced setting. We’re early on in our journey and move quickly – we expect you to do the same.
- Clear communicator: You can distill complex technical details and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Customer-focused: You enjoy engaging directly with customers, understanding their challenges, and leveraging their feedback to improve the product. You’re comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and adjusting solutions based on real-world feedback.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: Startups are unpredictable, and you're skilled at adapting to rapid changes, balancing competing priorities, and navigating evolving business landscapes. We are in the early stages of building out our company culture and processes - we want you to be excited to help shape our operations and culture.
