Job Summary:

The Manager, FP&A will be responsible for leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis to drive business performance. This role will oversee key financial initiatives, partner with senior leadership, and provide insights to support data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, business partnering, and experience with financial systems. Additionally, this role will focus on optimizing financial reporting processes, improving data integration, enhancing project financial forecasting, and leveraging AI for automation and predictive analytics. The Manager, FP&A will also lead and manage the FP&A team, ensuring effective collaboration and employee development.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Own and lead the annual budgeting and long-range planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Manage ongoing forecasting processes (e.g., rolling forecasts, scenario modeling) to enhance agility and accuracy.
  • Leverage AI-driven tools and analytics to improve forecast quality and planning efficiency.
  • Standardize forecasting and planning methodologies to ensure consistent application across teams.

Financial Reporting, Dashboards & Performance Management

  • Oversee monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including executive dashboards, variance analyses, and KPI tracking.
  • Prepare and govern structured reporting packages for monthly production calls, ensuring consistency and alignment with project data from Kantata (formerly known as Mavenlink).
  • Develop and maintain reporting templates for budget planning, performance reviews, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure financial reports meet compliance standards and support clear executive-level communication.

Business Partnership & Decision Support

  • Act as a finance partner to operations, HR, project management, and other departments, providing insight into performance drivers and cost optimization.
  • Support ad-hoc initiatives, including pricing strategy, resource planning, and investment evaluations.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders.

Systems Integration, Automation & BI Enablement

  • Maintain and enhance project financial systems, with a focus on Kantata (formerly known as Mavenlink), ensuring seamless data flow to ERP and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI).
  • Automate financial reporting and forecasting processes using Excel, BI tools, and data-driven models.
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance to ensure long-term governance, accuracy, and scalability of financial data infrastructure.
  • Align project financials from Kantata with corporate budgeting and reporting needs to reduce manual adjustments.

Resource & Project Financial Planning

  • Use Kantata and other data sources to produce automated insights into capacity, hiring needs, and resource allocation.
  • Improve long-term resource and project planning accuracy through financial modeling and process optimization.
  • Align resource utilization and staffing strategies with overall business goals.

Team Management & Development

  • Take ownership of the FP&A function, including processes, tools, and performance standards.
  • Lead and support a small FP&A team (size to evolve), ensuring high-quality output and cross-department collaboration.
  • Provide mentorship and facilitate team development aligned with growth and organizational change.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture that promotes innovation, agility, and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting skills.
  • Experience with financial systems, with a preference for Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Kantata as a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial reporting tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience implementing AI-based financial tools and automation processes.
  • Experience optimizing and automating financial processes and reporting structures.
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in financial analysis and forecasting.

Working Conditions and Travel:

Well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.  Minimal overnight travel by land and air.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for periods up to 4 hours at a time
  • Ability to speak on the telephone for a total of up to 3 hours per day
  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours without breaks at meetings
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 4 hours without breaks at program site visits and meetings

We offer an annual gross salary between $140,000 and $150,000 USD (for US based employees) or $135,000-$145,000 CAD (for Canada based employees) for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
