Principal, Rolling Stock Procurement

Department: Consulting, Rolling Stock Domain
Reports to: Director, Rolling Stock Advisory
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Play a leadership role within our Rolling Stock advisory consulting services group leading the procurement services team.
- Act as strategic advisor/Customer account manager for our most significant clients.
- Pursue strategically important new business opportunities across all four domains through close collaboration with the DBECO domain directors
- Manage complex, strategically important, innovative, assignments and large-scale projects.
- Supervise consulting projects managed by reporting Senior Consultants by ensuring quality, cost control and profitability.
- Review and approves methodology and approach of technical consulting projects.
- Help to develop and manage a team and supports the professional development of reporting, Senior Consultants, Consultants and Analysts.
- Transform successful innovative projects into regular services that can be performed and led by Senior Consultants.
- Lead and/or supports strategic and large proposal development
- Represent DB E.C.O. North America at industry events and conferences.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (either mechanical or electrical) as well as a Master of Business Administration or Master of Science. A professional engineering license valid in LA as well as other west coast states is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in engineering consulting and procurement as it pertains to rollingstock across the full lifecycle from purchase initiation through introduction into operation and beyond. Prior experience with procurements for systems and Infrastructure is desired.
- Proven track record of developing relationships and leading the conversion of large, valued contracts
- Experience of international working in the railway sector.
- Strong leadership and decision-making qualities are required.
- Demonstrable project management experience, including the ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Business-oriented mindset with keen skills of perception
- Resilient, flexible, independent and well-structured working approach.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Working Conditions and Travel:
You may work from your home office and/or a well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Travel will be expected as part of the role with occasional overnight travel by land and air.
Physical Requirements, with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for periods up to 4 hours at a time
- Ability to speak on the telephone for a total of up to 3 hours per day
- Ability to sit for up to 3 hours without breaks at meetings
- Ability to walk and stand for up to 4 hours without breaks at program site visits and meetings
We offer an annual gross salary between $215,000 and $246,000 + bonus (USD) for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
