About Us
dbt Labs empowers data practitioners to create and disseminate organizational knowledge. We help organizations build a mature Analytics Development Lifecycle (ADLC), and dbt Cloud is at the heart of this journey.
We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a front-end focus to design and build intuitive, user-friendly AI-driven features and tools. This person will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to create interfaces, optimize AI integrations, and develop utilities that make AI accessible and impactful across the organization. Their work will ensure our AI solutions are robust, scalable, and drive meaningful results.
As part of our AI team, you will partner closely with product development teams to design, build, and implement AI features that will shape the future of data-driven decision-making.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Be part of a small, innovative team to build AI-powered, customer-facing features in dbt Cloud.
- Work closely with product managers & product designers to create beautiful, intuitive, and efficient user interfaces.
- Work across various engineering teams on new AI-tooling, features & capabilities.
- Lead the development of frontend experiences that leverage AI to enhance the user experience throughout the Analytics Development Lifecycle (ADLC).
- Engage directly with users and internal stakeholders to iterate quickly on designs, prototypes, and final products.
- Advocate for best practices in frontend & backend development and ensure that all code is well-structured, maintainable, and tested.
- Experiment with new front-end technologies and AI tools to push the boundaries of what’s possible within the product.
You are a good fit if you have:
- Experience working asynchronously as part of a fully remote, distributed team.
- A passion for creating intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging user interfaces that solve customer problems using AI-driven approaches.
- Expertise in modern front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, or JavaScript
- Experience in building and optimizing front-end performance for scalable, large-scale web applications.
- Proven experience with web frameworks to develop full-stack applications at scale.
- A strong background in building APIs and large-scale distributed systems.
- Familiarity with front-end testing frameworks (e.g. Cypress) and a commitment to writing maintainable and testable code.
- A strong ability to make trade-offs between delivering features quickly and maintaining long-term front-end architecture quality.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English, with strong communication skills.
You'll have an edge if you have:
- Have experience with front-end performance optimization techniques, including lazy loading, code splitting, and caching strategies.
- Have worked on AI-powered user interfaces or data-heavy applications that leverage machine learning or large language models (LLMs).
- Have experience with design systems and component libraries, ensuring consistency across large-scale applications.
- Are familiar with GraphQL or REST APIs and how to efficiently interact with backend services in a front-end context.
- Have worked on AI projects that directly impact end-users in product-focused environments.

- Data analysts should adopt similar practices and tools to software developers
- Critical analytics infrastructure should be controlled by its users as open source software
- Analytic code itself — not just analytics tools — will increasingly be open source

Our customers include JetBlue, Hubspot, Vodafone New Zealand, and Dunelm. dbt is synonymous with the practice of analytics engineering, defining an entire industry.
