About the Role

dbt Labs is seeking a Solutions Architect to join our West Coast Solutions Architecture team and help drive customer success. In this role, you’ll lead technical evaluations, deliver compelling demos, and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the customer journey. We’re especially looking for candidates based in — or planning to relocate to — the San Francisco Bay Area to enable deeper collaboration their sales counterpart(s).

What You'll Do

  • Design modern, enterprise-scale data architectures using dbt Cloud
  • Partner with Sales to demonstrate the technical value of dbt Labs solutions
  • Lead proof-of-concept engagements and technical evaluations for prospective customers
  • Work with engineering to deploy dbt Cloud in private clouds for enterprise clients
  • Manage the full customer lifecycle, from pre-sales through onboarding and adoption
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence the enterprise roadmap
  • Enable strategic partners (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS) in their implementation of dbt
  • Engage in the dbt Community and contribute to thought leadership

What You'll Need

  • 4+ years of sales engineering, solutions architecture, or consulting in data operations, analytics, or BI
  • Proven hands-on experience with SQL, ETL, and data modeling
  • Strong understanding of modern data stacks and cloud data warehousing
  • Effective communicator—able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Ability to gather and translate technical and business requirements into concrete solutions
  • Excellent written, and in-person communication skills to discuss complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences  
  • Adaptable in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
  • A passion for being an inclusive teammate and involved member of the community

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Prior experience working at an analytics, ETL, BI, and/or open-sourced software
  • Knowledge of or prior experience with dbt
  • Familiarity with modeling approaches like dimensional modeling, Data Vault, or 3NF
  • Background in legacy ETL tooling (Informatica, Talend, Boomi)

Compensation

We offer competitive compensation packages commensurate with experience, including salary, equity, and where applicable, performance-based pay. Our Talent Acquisition Team can answer questions around dbt Lab’s total rewards during your interview process. 

Solutions Architect OTE Range

$195,000 - $255,000 USD
