Solutions Engineer

Charlotte, NC

WHO WE ARE

DebtBook is the financial platform powering treasury and capital markets across the public sector. State and local governments, public universities, health systems, and the bankers and advisors who serve them run trillions of dollars in debt, cash, and investments on DebtBook.

We've built the most sophisticated treasury platform in public finance — sitting at the intersection of treasury management and a $4 trillion fixed income market that's been waiting for modern infrastructure.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Solutions Engineer will serve in a client-facing role that connects Sales, Product, CS and the public finance organizations we serve. You will partner with Account Executives and Account Managers throughout the sales cycle to understand prospective customers' needs, demonstrate relevant DebtBook capabilities, communicate the operational and financial value of the platform and help ensure proper handoff to Implementation.

The ideal candidate has experience in solutions engineering, solution consulting, presales, treasury, public finance, banking, financial technology, or a related field. You should be comfortable learning complex financial workflows, presenting software to finance professionals, and translating technical product capabilities into clear business outcomes.

You will develop proficiency across DebtBook's solution suite - including Debt Management, Cash Management, Investment Management, Lease Management, and related add-on modules - while building deeper expertise in selected product areas. This role is well suited for someone who is intellectually curious, highly organized, comfortable working across teams, and motivated to become a trusted advisor to both customers and sales partners.

As a Solutions Engineer, you will:

  • Partner with Account Executives and Account Managers to provide presales support for new customer acquisition and account expansion opportunities.
  • Participate in discovery conversations to understand a prospect's current processes, challenges, priorities, technical environment, and desired business outcomes.
  • Prepare and deliver tailored product demonstrations that connect DebtBook's capabilities to each prospect's specific operational needs.
  • Communicate complex treasury, accounting and banking concepts in a clear and approachable manner.
  • Develop working proficiency across the full DebtBook platform while serving as a subject-matter resource in assigned product areas.
  • Coordinate with senior Solutions Engineers on multi-product, technically complex, or executive-level demonstrations.
  • Continuously deepen your knowledge of DebtBook's products, public-sector treasury operations, public finance, financial reporting requirements, and the broader competitive landscape

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Three or more years of relevant experience in solutions engineering, solution consulting, presales, financial technology, treasury, banking, public finance, enterprise software, or a related field.
  • Experience presenting software, financial concepts, workflows, or technical solutions to customers or internal stakeholders.
  • The ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into clear solution recommendations.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Confidence presenting to finance professionals, operational stakeholders, and senior leaders.
  • A consultative approach that prioritizes listening, thoughtful discovery, and alignment to customer outcomes.
  • Strong organization and project-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Finance, and Customer Success.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to develop expertise in treasury, debt, investments, accounting, banking integrations, and public-sector financial operations.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where processes and products continue to evolve.
  • A high degree of ownership, professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Certified Treasury Professional, Certified Public Accountant or other similar industry certifications
  • SaaS product demonstrations, technical discovery, RFP responses, or value engineering.
  • Financial data integrations, APIs, SFTP connections, bank reporting files, or enterprise system implementations.
