Sales Coordinator, Formulation Sales
Summary
Do you love the beauty industry and energized by the hunt — finding the right person at the right brand at the right moment and getting them to say "yes, let's talk"? In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and qualifying new prospective brand partners for Debut's formulation business, and converting that early interest into scheduled meetings for the Formulation Sales team.
This position is the top-of-the funnel sales growth for Debut’s Commercial Formulation outreach. You will not be expected to close the deal or manage the full sales cycle – this job is finding the right people, gain their attention, confirm if worth pursuing, and hand off a warm, qualified introduction to the sales team. This role is perfect for an energetic, persistent, organized, and genuinely enjoys the first few steps of a sales relationship: research, outreach, follow-up, and winning a meeting on the sales calendar.
San Diego-based preferred but remote may be considered for the right candidate. This role sits within the Commercial Formulation Sales organization.
Essential Functions
- Drive high-volume outbound prospecting (email, LinkedIn, phone, and other channels) to identify new beauty brands and organizations as potential formulation partners for Debut.
- Research and build target lists of prospective accounts, focusing on brands and companies seeking custom or white-label formulation with biotech-driven ingredients.
- Identify and map key decision makers within target organizations — R&D, product development, marketing, and executive leadership — to find the right point of entry.
- Craft and send personalized, compelling outreach that captures attention and clearly communicates why Debut is worth a conversation.
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads against defined criteria (fit, timing, budget signals, need) before passing them on to the sales team.
- Secure and schedule qualified introductory meetings between prospects and the Formulation Sales team.
- Maintain disciplined, consistent follow-up cadences to keep prospects warm and moving toward a scheduled meeting.
- Track all prospecting activity, lead status, and meeting outcomes in the CRM Monday.com to keep the pipeline accurate and visible.
- Develop a working understanding of Debut's formulation and biotechnology platform, competitive positioning, and value proposition well enough to generate interest and answer initial questions.
- Partner closely with the Formulation Sales team to hand off qualified leads smoothly, share context ahead of meetings, and refine targeting based on what's converting.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 1 year in business development coordination, lead generation, or sales/account support within the beauty industry – B2B experience preferred.
- Prior experience in beauty, personal care, cosmetics, or ingredients/Consumer Product Group (CPG) industries is a strong plus, but not required if the candidate has strong outbound sales fundamentals
- Demonstrated track record of outbound prospecting or cold outreach (email, LinkedIn, phone) with measurable results (response rates, meetings booked, pipeline generated) is a differentiator, even from a different industry.
- Highly self-driven, results-oriented, and comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Limited travel up to 15% for industry events.
Essential Physical Characteristics:
- The physical characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
