We are looking for a driven and capable HSE Manager to support us with the development of multiple data center projects for one of the top technology clients in the world. This is a client-facing role that requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, the ability to self-direct, client representation, and an emphasis on strong project management fundamentals. Must be able to manage multiple projects concurrently and across multiple regions. A strong background in data center development, design, engineering, controls, and operations requirements is a big plus.

You will play an integral role in ensuring the safety and environmental compliance of all activities on the job site. You will have a critical role in preventing incidents and ensuring adherence to both health and environmental regulations, in addition to safety. You will work collaboratively with construction professionals and environmental specialists to identify risks, establish HSE protocols, develop and implement training programs, and conduct regular audits to maintain the highest standards of compliance and performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all construction and site operations comply with local, state, federal, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee and manage regular HSE inspections and audits conducted by the team to identify risks and enforce corrective actions.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Supervise the investigation of accidents, incidents, near-misses, and environmental non-compliance; review root cause analyses and approve prevention strategies.
  • Review and update HSE policies and procedures regularly to ensure ongoing compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with project managers to integrate HSE planning and monitoring into overall project execution.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date HSE records, including OSHA 300 logs and environmental documentation.
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation and delivery of safety briefings, toolbox talks, and environmental awareness sessions across projects.
  • Manage and track compliance with required safety certifications and permits for personnel and site operations.
  • Support and guide initiatives related to sustainability and environmental protection, including waste management, emissions reduction, and resource conservation.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring effective communication with both technical and management-level personnel.
  • Oversee the preparation of PowerPoint decks and present safety performance updates, findings, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Review and assess project plans and specifications for HSE implications and ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of construction and HSE management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical (Medium Voltage) environments.
  • Prior experience in Hyperscale Data Center development and construction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental regulations (EPA, local jurisdiction).
  • Experience supporting safety and environmental management on hyperscale data center projects.
  • Strong command of both safety and environmental protection protocols in the construction industry.
  • Experience developing HSE reports tailored to technical and executive audiences.
  • Proven success in client-facing roles.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical requirements and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent.
  • Environmental certifications such as CHMM, REM, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
  • Strong background in data center development and mission-critical construction environments.
