We are looking for a driven and capable Commissioning Agent - Site Commissioning to support us with the commissioning of multiple data center projects for one of the top technology clients in the world. This is a client-facing, site-based role that requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, the ability to self-direct, client representation, and an emphasis on strong commissioning fundamentals. Must be able to coordinate multiple commissioning activities concurrently across mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), controls, and integrated building systems. A strong background in data center commissioning, MEP systems, testing, and operational readiness is required.
You will play an integral role in coordinating commissioning teams, forming long-term relationships with clients, and supporting the successful testing, verification, and turnover of mission-critical facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Versed in modern commissioning techniques within complex, multi-functional organizations; have an understanding and knowledge of engineering, design, procurement and contracting, safety, construction, commissioning, and facility operations.
- Establish a strong relationship with the client and communicate with both technical and management-level personnel.
- Manage assigned commissioning work from start to closeout, covering all aspects related to work delivery in order to ensure that the work is conducted in a timely and effective manner.
- Prepare PowerPoint decks and present to management on progress, findings, issues, and recommendations.
- Review project plans, commissioning requirements, design documents, equipment submittals, sequences of operation, and specifications.
- Review commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, and test scripts to confirm alignment with project requirements and the approved design intent.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, engineers, controls specialists, and project stakeholders to establish commissioning schedules and testing priorities.
- Perform field observations and verify the installation, startup, testing, and performance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and other supporting systems.
- Witness and document functional performance testing, equipment startup, system demonstrations, and integrated systems testing.
- Verify commissioning readiness, including completion of prerequisite activities, installation checks, pre-functional checklists, safety requirements, and supporting documentation.
- Identify commissioning risks, gaps, deficiencies, and opportunities, and provide recommendations to stakeholders to mitigate the impact of these risks and take advantage of opportunities.
- Maintain accurate commissioning records, issue logs, observation reports, test results, action items, and deficiency tracking through closure.
- Facilitate, run, and chair commissioning meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes and action items.
- Review and validate commissioning progress, contractor deliverables, testing documentation, and turnover packages.
- Support equipment and system turnover, training, closeout documentation, and operational readiness activities.
- Liaise with designers, engineers, superintendents, construction managers, contractors, vendors, and facility operations teams as required.
- Support business development efforts by contributing technical commissioning knowledge to strategy development, positioning, and proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications:
- 8+ years of MEP construction, engineering, or commissioning experience
- Previous commissioning experience on data center projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and integrated building systems
- Experience supporting equipment startup, pre-functional inspections, functional performance testing, and integrated systems testing
- Strong working knowledge of commissioning processes, construction sequencing, testing requirements, issue management, system turnover, and project closeout
- Experience in developing various types of commissioning reports, targeting different audiences
- Experience in client-facing positions
- Demonstrated ability to understand technical and complicated data center systems and the ability to communicate progress to both technical and management-level personnel
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with any audience clearly and accurately
- Ability to work on-site and coordinate multiple commissioning activities in a fast-paced construction environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction engineering, or related technical field
- Professional engineering or commissioning background
- Experience commissioning mission-critical mechanical, electrical, controls, and life-safety systems
- Experience with commissioning management and construction management software
- Familiarity with industry commissioning standards, procedures, and documentation requirements
- Relevant commissioning certification, such as CCP, CxA, CBCP, or similar
- Strong background in data center development, construction, and commissioning
