About the position:
As we scale, our digital and data infrastructure must evolve rapidly and intelligently. We're seeking a Vice President of Information Technology who can not only lead today’s operations but build the future of enterprise IT at Definitive—with a pathway to CIO.
The VP of IT will be responsible for shaping and executing our enterprise technology strategy, building a secure and scalable infrastructure, and enabling operational excellence across the company. You’ll serve as a strategic partner across functions—including Product, Data, Sales, Finance, and People—and oversee everything from internal systems to cybersecurity to business continuity planning.
This is a transformative leadership role for a hands-on IT executive with the vision and operational rigor to scale technology for a high-growth, data-driven business.
What you’ll do:
Strategic Leadership & Enterprise Architecture
- Define and drive a scalable, forward-looking IT roadmap aligned to business priorities and growth objectives
- Lead IT modernization efforts including optimization of existing infrastructure, migration of legacy systems to Azure or M365 Services and enterprise system design
- Serve as a thought partner to the C-suite on digital strategy, tech investments, and automation opportunities
Infrastructure & Core Systems
- Oversee enterprise systems architecture, including ERP, CRM, HRIS, and collaboration tools (such as Netsuite, Salesforce and ADP)
- Optimize performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments
- Lead IT support, service desk, and systems administration for 800+ employees
Cybersecurity, Compliance & Risk
- Own the company’s cybersecurity posture, governance frameworks, and incident response planning
- Partner with Legal and Compliance to manage audits (SOC 2, GDPR etc.) and mitigate risk
- Stay ahead of emerging threats and implement robust detection, prevention, and recovery capabilities
Data, Integration & M&A
- Lead integration of systems and infrastructure during acquisitions and divestitures
- Collaborate with Product and Data teams to ensure secure, governed access to internal and external datasets
- Improve data flows and integrations across enterprise systems to enable analytics and decision-making
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
- Build and lead a high-performing IT team of architects, engineers, support staff, and third-party partners
- Manage relationships and contracts with SaaS providers, MSPs, and infrastructure vendors
- Establish IT operating model, KPIs, and service levels that scale with the business
What You Bring:
Required Experience:
- 15+ years in IT leadership roles, including VP or similar level in high-growth, technology-enabled companies
- Proven success scaling enterprise IT functions in SaaS, healthcare, or data-centric environments
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture (such as Azure), cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and IT operations
- Demonstrated experience managing M&A technology integrations
- Track record of modernizing tech stacks, improving operational resilience, and enabling digital transformation
Leadership & Influence
- Strong executive presence and communication skills—trusted advisor to C-level stakeholders
- Experience leading, developing, and mentoring global, diverse teams in multiple time zones
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex technical needs into business impact
Preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare data compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.)
- Experience in companies undergoing IPO, PE transactions, or hypergrowth transitions
- MBA, MS in Information Systems, or equivalent advanced degree a plus
Working Conditions:
- Standard office hours – minimum Tuesday – Thursday in our Framingham, Massachusetts location with occasional travel as required
