We are looking for an experienced Frontend Architect who has a solid technical background with significant hands-on coding skills, communication, and leadership skills. This person is excited about working with our product and engineering teams, designing and implementing scalable systems to join our team.

In this position you will work along-side other architects and work with experienced developers, product managers, and engineering managers to advise and implement reliable, robust and scalable solutions for the Degreed LXP. You will support multiple product teams providing mentorship, technical guidance, and knowledge transfers. We require individuals who are lifelong learners and passionate about taking on new challenges with a continuous improvement mindset.

This role will be based onsite in Bengaluru, India. After an in-office onboarding period, incumbents are expected to be available in office for a few days per week as part of hybrid work model.  Candidates will also be required to travel internationally 1-2 times annually for full company gatherings.

Day in the Life

  • Use Jira to manage your tasks and communicate status with peers and executive leadership.
  • Participate in Code Reviews for multiple teams to approve architecture and implementations standards and practices.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to product team members, fostering their growth and development.
  • Work with Product Designers to guide design best practices. Implement new or refactored shared FE libraries for engineers
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of new user-facing features and enhancements as a technical leader providing guidance to other frontend developers and setting vision for the team.
  • Collaborate with product owners to ensure features/changes meet business requirements and fulfill the Degreed strategy
  • Work closely with designers, UX, and other developers to gain deep understanding of new features, dependencies, and technical details
  • Regularly assess and propose enhancements to existing engineering processes, including aspects like deployment, monitoring, localization, accessibility, and troubleshooting.
  • Guide teams and engineers on 
    • Best practices for Gitflow, feature work, and rebase practices.
    • Conducting great, collaborative code reviews.
    • Testing strategies, practices, and implementations
    • Training on best practices for state management and performance improvements.
    • Guide engineering teams on Tailwind Best Practices and Code Review
  • Design Angular and React libraries, components, and services with a focus on modularity and scalability.
  • Implement beautiful layouts using Tailwind CSS and HTML, demonstrating expertise in frontend development techniques. 
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting production issues and work with the team to continuously evaluate and improve the quality, reliability, and scalability of the LXP application.
  • Continually improve the quality of UI code, setting high standards for code maintainability, readability, and reusability.
  • Are an advocate for innovation, code quality + clarity, and provide inspiration for engineers
  • Are a sponsor and promote great engineering efforts and quality.

Who You Are

Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 10 or more years of FE Experience
  • Implemented and delivered 4 or more web products

Technical Expertise

  • Experienced with (3 or more years each):
    • ES6 & Typescript & Generics
    • Angular v14+, 
    • React 18+
    • RxJS v6+
    • (bonus) Testing with Jest: Unit & Integration
    • (bonus) Nx Monorepo
  • Expert with Git, Gitflow, Code Reviews
  • Expert with encapsulating UI code, isolating business code, 
  • Able to teach best practices and architecture patterns (training proof required)
  • Expert with state management issues and solutions: (NgRx, Redux, Zustand, Elf, etc.)
  • Expert with REST API development and architectures (GraphQL bonus).

Leadership Expertise

  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience in an agile environment, with a strong ability to guide and mentor other team members.
  • Comfortable creating highly scalable SaaS systems with a focus on decision-making
  • Possess strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
  • Solution-driven with ability to understand the big picture
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to work autonomously with minimal direction

What Sets You Apart

  • You have 3 or more FE-relevant blogs where you shared your learnings
  • You have FE animation, motion, and transition experience
  • You have experience using PWA and Service workers
  • You have experience building component libraries
  • You have expert experience with RxJS and GraphQL
  • Knowledge of a11y ARIA attributes and screen reader technologies is desirable.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end testing with Cypress would be beneficial
  • Familiarity with backend technologies such as with C#, .Net 6+, and SQL
