As a Senior Product Designer at Degreed, you’ll take a lead role within your product team, working closely with the Product Manager and Engineering Lead to drive complex, high-impact initiatives. You’ll guide projects through every stage of the design process—from shaping strategy to delivering thoughtful, user-centered solutions.
This role balances autonomy with collaboration. You'll contribute to cross-functional and cross-product work, mentor less-experienced designers, and engage with stakeholders across the business. Strong user research, prototyping, and visual design skills are key, along with the ability to work within and evolve our design system.
Beyond individual contributions, you'll help build team culture, influence design direction at scale, and improve the way we work—always keeping both the big picture and the finer details in mind.
Key Skills
- 7+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer in a similar role.
- Comprehensive understanding of user-centered design principles, with a focus on creating exceptional user experiences.
- Mastery designing in Figma, and an eagerness to stay updated on industry trends.
- Excellent communication skills and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor other designers, providing guidance and support to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented design team.
- Ability to interpret and translate product requirements into compelling design solutions, presenting multiple viable paths forward.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, while still exploring and aligning projects with company goals, providing regular updates, collaborating with key stakeholders, and balancing attention to detail with consideration of the bigger picture.
- Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating the ability to anticipate issues, translate insights into effective solutions, and take a pragmatic view toward overcoming challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design of complex product features, from discovery to launch, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional partners to shape and execute product strategy.
- Drive product direction by proactively balancing high-level vision with attention to detail, while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders and leadership.
- Conduct and lead the full user research lifecycle (planning, execution, synthesis) to inform and validate design decisions.
- Design, test, and iterate on user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity interfaces for complex workflows.
- Advance and evolve the company’s design system, contributing to consistency and scalability across product areas.
- Clearly communicate design rationale to a variety of audiences, including leadership and external clients, fostering transparency and alignment.
- Mentor and support other designers, contributing to team growth, upholding design standards, and participating in critiques and hiring processes.
- Anticipate and resolve design challenges, translating insights into pragmatic solutions and ensuring consistent, timely execution.
Compensation
We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The total pay range for this role is $140,000 - $175,000.
Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
