Summary:
The Carrier Certification Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful certification of wireless devices for major carriers, including Verizon Wireless (VZW), AT&T, and T-Mobile (TMO). This position involves executing and validating carrier tests, analyzing test results, and collaborating with internal and external teams to resolve issues.
Responsibilities:
- Carrier Test Planning and Execution: Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan wireless carrier tests. Execute carrier tests, provide reports, and ensure compliance with carrier requirements.
- External Lab Support: Provide guidance and support to external labs on execution processes related to devices.
- Issue Analysis and Debugging: Analyze high-level modem logs to identify issues, debug problems, and report findings to development and cellular modem teams.
- Test Sample Management: Manage test samples and RF configurations for various test categories.
- Connectivity Certifications: Assist in executing connectivity certifications for Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal teams, external labs, and carriers to ensure successful certification and issue resolution.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with modem log tools such as QXDM, QPST, and QCAT
- Deep understanding of cellular features like 5G, LTE, VoLTE, Vowifi, RTT, WEA, and AGNSS
- Expertise in carrier-prescribed test cases (e.g., VZW and TMO lab conformance and AT&T 10776 lab tests)
- Familiarity with Fit4Launch (F4L) and Domestic FIT (DFIT) test cases and criteria is a plus
- Familiarity with test equipment such as R&S CMW/CMX500, Keysight, and Anritsu test boxes, tools, and test scripts
- Creativity, verbal, and written communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Team player with attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required with experience in cellular technology (3 to 5 years)
- Previous experience with carrier testing is mandatory.
