Vendor / Category Manager - Deliveroo Hop UAE

Deliveroo Hop is Deliveroo's 24/7 supermarket - a digital-only experience that allows customers to shop online for all of their groceries, ingredients, household essentials & more, on-demand, and delivered to them in minutes.

Role Overview:

As Vendor / Category Manager, you will be responsible for the performance of a category within Deliveroo Hop. Working closely with the Vendor Management Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the category strategy through range selection, sourcing, pricing, cost and contract negotiations, promotions, merchandising and marketing campaigns, as well as managing the vendors within that category. We are looking for a candidate with a strong commercial mindset focused on driving growth and creative approach to problem solving.

You will be based in our Dubai office (DIFC), where we operate on a hybrid model (three days a week working in the office), and this role will report to the Senior Vendor Manager.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Category Management

  • Support the Vendor Management Lead in selecting a great range of products and set pricing, as per selection and pricing principles and in line with the Deliveroo Hop CVP;

  • Ensure the right SKUs are nominated for effective and efficient promotional campaigns and events;

  • Monitoring SKU performance and optimising the range;

  • Deep dive category performance vs plan and define and execute plans to drive improvement and sustainable growth;

Vendor Management

  • Develop and manage relationships with local and international grocery suppliers;

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to ensure favourable terms and service levels;

  • Analyse vendor performance and take corrective actions to improve service and quality.

  • Manage vendor compliance and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Work closely with the in-stock team to source new products and maintain inventory levels.

  • Resolve vendor-related issues and disputes and escalations including invoice, payment and account reconciliation with the vendors.

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new vendor & range opportunities.

  • Drive media spend with vendors on the platform to promote products and enhance visibility.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in vendor/category management or buying function (grocery experience would be a benefit but not requirement);

  • An analytical and problem-solving mindset used to evaluate vendor and category performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to build strong partnerships with vendors;

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and resolve vendor-related issues.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and adapt to changing market dynamics;

  • A proactive and results-driven approach to vendor management and procurement;

  • Good knowledge of working on spreadsheets (Excel / Gsheets).

Desirable requirements

  • Experience in international FMCG sourcing and sourcing of fresh categories to cater to diversity of offerings is a bonus.

  • Knowledge of BI and data analytic tools like SQL, Tableau, Power BI, etc would be an added advantage.
