Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced consulting leader to join our growing consulting team in the Africa region, based in Zambia. Our support with clients in the region focuses on impact for beneficiaries and refining implementation along the way, accounting for learnings in the local context. In this multi-country project, you will lead the delivery of priorities, working jointly with government entities, other partners, and your team on the ground to plan for delivery, monitor progress, and address implementation challenges.
This is a contractor role, being offered as a 1-year fixed-term engagement. There may be an opportunity for the engagement to be extended depending on performance and business need.
As a Project Leader, you’ll lead consulting teams working with governments and coalitions to support on-the-ground delivery of project priorities. In this role, you will also support our teams as we grow our work across Africa, bringing a sharp and data-informed analytical problem-solving skill set in addition to programme management experience.
Key Responsibilities.
- Work with governments and donors, engaging senior leaders in public sectors on their most complex challenges by building capabilities for delivering priority projects and informing data-driven decision-making.
- Lead the day-to-day execution of projects while guiding and coaching client teams to deliver and sustain concrete results.
- Facilitate problem-solving, collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement across silos.
- Develop client reports, dashboards, and communication materials.
- Participate in and lead internal initiatives and contribute to the organization and the Africa region's growth.

Required Skills/Experiences:
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s in business, economics, policy, or public health preferred. Requisite years of professional experience in public health, public policy, and/or apprenticeship pathways will also be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Professional experience: 7-9 years of relevant experience in the public sector, at consulting firms or international organizations with demonstrable client-facing delivery.
- Technical proficiency: Sector expertise in health, nutrition, education, and/or sustainability on the African continent is a plus.
- Team leadership: Project and/or programme management experience, particularly in public health contexts.
- Project management: Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects.
- Build key relationships: Cultivate trust, influence, and a strong sense of partnership among senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboratives: Lead effective meetings and workshops that drive forward problem solving and consensus.
- Manage project teams: Organize teams and delegate tasks to ensure efficient project execution, fostering a healthy teaming culture.
- Lead problem solving sessions: Guide colleagues and partners in breaking down issues to identify root causes and develop solutions.
- Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Must have business-level proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Authorization + location requirements: Must have existing right-to-work documentation, based in Zambia and/or willing to relocate to Lusaka.
