Digital Communications Manager, Website and Broadcast Email

Democracy Forward seeks a Digital Communications Manager for Website and Broadcast Email communications who will help to execute the organization’s mission of using the law to advance the promise of democracy and social progress in the United States by managing and growing our website and email platforms. The candidate must be able to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple issues and projects simultaneously.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate an organizational mindset, strategic thinking, and have experience working to advance policies that have a positive impact on historically and currently marginalized communities.  The candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, equity, and justice and will seek to advance the organization’s values both internally and externally.  

Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure Democracy Forward’s website and broadcast email communications demonstrates the breadth, depth, and timeliness of our work
  • Draft original content and adapt approved messaging for pages on the website
  • Brainstorm and execute new ways to market Democracy Forward and provide value to our audiences using existing or new online tools on our website, with new micro sites, via email, and beyond
  • Serve as main point of contact and project manager for external consultants, developers, and freelancers working on website, broadcast email, and EveryAction/other CRM projects
  • Collaborate with other divisions to create landing pages, signup pages, event RSVP forms, and media links that achieve their goals and implement best practices 
  • Track and report analytics for website use, SEO rankings, and email performance, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve growth 
  • Draft, build, and track performance for a weekly newsletter, plus additional weekly emails to engage supporters 

Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years experience with digital content creation, including email or website communications
  • Experience or interest in learning HTML, as well as fluency in online platforms including WordPress or EveryAction
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences via digital channels and long-form writing
  • Exceptional editing skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Comfort working with information such as legal issues and litigation, and an interest in making this content accessible to the public
  • Communicative team-player capable of setting goals and measuring progress
  • Commitment to building successful outcomes and taking ownership over a growing program and team
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute affirmatively to a working environment of equity, justice, and inclusion  
  • Located in the DC Metro area preferred 
  • A shared passion for creating change, advocating for democratic norms, and holding leaders accountable for good government

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000 commensurate with experience plus excellent benefits.
