EDI Specialist Position Summary
The EDI Specialist provides operational support to production practices and resolves issues as assigned or deemed necessary. Must coordinate with various departments and document, analyze, and assist in efficient resolution of all production processes. This includes responding to end-user issues and inquiries in support, working with both in-house and third-party applications. In this role, the EDI Specialist will work closely with others to identify, communicate, and document issues and their resolutions in the production ticket tracking system.

The EDI Specialist monitors production pipelines, catches failures before they reach clients, and works across internal departments and external vendors to keep transactions flowing correctly. When this work goes well, clients don't notice. When the processes breaks, claims get rejected, payments stall, and client trust erodes. - What impact will the new hire have in their first 6 months?
In the first 90 days, cross-training with each of the EDI team members building an understanding of each task, focusing on learning file transaction types, becoming familiar with using various systems, applications and tools, and gaining an understanding of each internal department that the EDI team engages with to meet the KPI for each assigned task.
From month four to six, the EDI Specialist is handling ticket queues independently, identifying recurring error patterns, and contributing fixes that prevent the same issues from recurring. - What's the growth trajectory for this position?
The EDI Specialist role provides a strong pathway for growth within Operations. Associates who develop deep transaction knowledge and a track record for clean documentation and cross-team collaboration move into senior specialist or supervisor roles. From there, the path opens toward Operations leadership or technical project work with Trading Partners and Payers.
What You'll Be Doing as an EDI Specialist
- Provide operational support to production practices and issues and suggest areas for improvement.
- Monitor, review, troubleshoot, and correct EDI issues and make necessary changes to prevent the same issues from reoccurring.
- Perform tests on production applications and prepare recovery procedures for applications.
- Coordinate with IT groups and external vendors to ensure effective services for reliability.
- Analyze business processes and ensure compliance with controlled processes according to established protocols.
- Monitor alerts and escalate issues for procedures and systems.
- Assist as needed with training guides and supporting other team members.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, vendors, and other department members.
- Collaborate as needed with other internal departments including, but not limited to, Engineering, Sales, Client Support, Payer Relations, Trading Partners, and Channel Partners.
- Proactively provide timely communications regarding updates, issues, and resolutions.
- Maintain accurate support tickets, documentation, and follow-up.

What You'll Bring to the Team as an EDI Specialist
- 1 year of related experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of EDI transaction types preferred (X12 837D, 270/271, 835, XML, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of with the following:
- Microsoft SQL Server management Studio
- UltraEdit and/or NotePad ++
- CuteFTP -file transfer program
- Microsoft Office: Excel, Outlook
- AI tools: Claude, Copilot, etc.
- Ability to quickly gain a solid understanding of DentalXChange processes and applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in all (or list which ones) MS Office applications and use of the internet.
- Ability to successfully multitask with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of technical and procedural aspects and functions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour DOE.
