Guest Relations Intern

Job Summary: The Guest Relations Intern is responsible for supporting 450+ part-time Guest Relations event staff and assisting with the administrative support and day-to-day operations of the Guest Relations department. This role will assist with the setup, execution, and reconciliation of both public and private events held at Empower Field at Mile High, including all Denver Broncos home games. Additionally, this role will assist with hiring, onboarding, and training part-time event staff. Finally, this role will track and analyze various data related to the department and make recommendations based on analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with the planning and execution of public events:

  • Assist with the setup of stadium gates, ensuring that ticket scanning devices and queue lines are set according to plan
  • Prepare informational resources for stadium GR Centers
  • Distribute event day parking passes to GR staff
  • Assist with the setup and execution of the staff check-in process
  • Serve as the event day point of contact for locker rental company
  • Execute the Bud Light Decide to Ride (designated driver) program
  • Create and distribute first game and birthday certificates to stadium guests

Assist with the planning and execution of private events

  • Attend weekly Special Events meetings
  • Assist with scheduling staff for events and sending out event information in advance of the scheduled shifts
  • Prepare informational resources and staffing plans for the event
  • Reconcile post-event paperwork and notify GR management of any issues that need addressed

Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training part-time staff

  • Communicate with prospective Guest Relations candidates, providing information about the job and answering questions
  • Follow up with newly hired employees to ensure that onboarding paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Prepare employee ID badges and uniforms for newly hired employees
  • Assist with conducting new hire training
  • Audit employee contact information, ensuring phone numbers, email addresses, and emergency contact details are up to date

Track and analyze department data and make recommendations based on analysis

  • Evaluate uniform sizes for GR staff and provide recommendations for uniform orders
  • Track and manage inventory of department supplies (office supplies, event day equipment, etc.) and notify GR management when supplies need ordered
  • Assist the Senior Manager in creating the End of Season Report that is presented to SMC senior leadership

Assist with the maintenance and preparation of various technological devices used for events

  • Process updates to ticket scanners and usher communicator (iPhone) devices
  • Ensure devices are fully charged and ready prior to each event
  • Inventory devices after each event to ensure that all distributed items were returned

Contributes to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Cover letter, resume, and references
  • Actively working towards (or recently graduated with) a bachelor’s degree
  • Proficient working in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to work hours outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Skills & Ability

  • Actively working towards (or recently graduated with) a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management/Administration/Business or related field
  • Prior experience working with the SMC Guest Relations department, or other sports related guest services department
  • Experience working sporting events or similar field
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with extreme accuracy under pressure
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary for this position is $18.81/hour.
