JOB PURPOSE
This role is part of our Group Control team based in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The Consolidation & Reporting Lead acts as product owner for group finance tools and the consolidation data model, ensuring their effectiveness, accuracy, and continuous development. The role leads the group consolidation and reporting processes in close collaboration with Group Controllers and local finance teams, safeguarding compliance with IFRS and group policies. Beyond daily and monthly cycles, the role has a multi-year planning horizon, driving the evolution of systems, processes, and reporting maturity, and ensuring that group finance capabilities remain fit for purpose as the business grows and regulatory requirements evolve.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as product owner for group finance tools, including consolidation systems and related reporting solutions, ensuring stability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Own and maintain the group consolidation data model, driving enhancements in collaboration with external consultants, software providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Lead the consolidation process, including intercompany eliminations, equity pickup, and currency translation, ensuring timely and accurate group financial reporting.
- Monitor adherence to close timelines, escalating deviations to the Reporting Manager and collaborating with Group Controllers and local finance teams to resolve issues.
- Contribute to the preparation of consolidated financial statements and disclosures, ensuring compliance with IFRS and supporting external audit requirements.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements in collaboration with finance, BI, and other stakeholders.
- Provide training and technical support to all user groups, building competence across the organisation.
- Participate in or lead projects impacting consolidation and reporting, such as regulatory changes, acquisitions, or system upgrades, ensuring effective implementation and communication.
HARD SKILLS
- Strong expertise in group accounting, consolidation, and eliminations in a multi-currency environment.
- Reporting knowledge with focus on disclosures and specific schedules required under Dutch Law and IFRS.
- Proficiency in consolidation/reporting systems and maintenance of financial data models.
SOFT SKILLS
- Proactive and self-starting, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
- Strong analytical mindset and structured approach to problem-solving, with attention to both detail and accuracy.
- Clear and effective communicator, able to provide concise updates and explain technical matters to diverse stakeholders.
- Well-organised, able to prioritise effectively and deliver under time pressure.
- Constructive and collaborative team player, building strong working relationships across finance and other functions.
- Demonstrates accountability, resilience, and a continuous improvement mindset in managing complex reporting processes.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Master’s Degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field;
- Around 8-10 years of experience in a similar role;
- Experience working with Tagetik would be ideal;
- Eye for detail and diligence to ensure accuracy of systems and processes;
- Experience with consolidated accounting & (external) reporting, experience with IFRS is a must;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Candidates should be organized and demonstrate the ability to work on a number of complex areas at the same time;
- Curious self-starter who consistently takes the initiative to address questions and build new processes;
- A strong work ethic, ability to meet deadlines;
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment;
- Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships at all levels of the organization. Organizational sensitivity, international experience is an asset;
- Strong verbal and written communications with the ability to effectively communicate and present at multiple levels in the organization;
- Ability to manage a team and as an individual contributor.
