Job Summary: The Fabricator at Deville Steel is responsible for cutting, shaping, and assembling structural steel components according to detailed shop drawings and specifications. This role requires a high level of skill in layout, fitting, and basic welding processes to produce precise and high-quality steel structures for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and accurately interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
Lay out, measure, and mark steel components for cutting, drilling, and welding.
Operate various fabrication equipment, including saws, drills, grinders, and torches, safely and efficiently.
Fit and assemble steel members, ensuring proper alignment, squareness, and dimensional accuracy.
Perform basic welding tasks (tack welding, minor repairs) as required, or assist certified welders.
Clean and prepare surfaces for welding and painting.
Inspect own work for quality and compliance with drawings and standards.
Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and company policies.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting shop drawings and blueprints.
Experience with various shop tools and equipment used in steel fabrication.
Basic understanding of welding processes (FCAW, SMAW, GMAW) and the ability to perform tack welding.
Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning skills.
Ability to use measuring tools accurately (tape measure, square, level, etc.).
Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in a demanding environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Commitment to working safely and following all safety guidelines.
