Job Summary: Deville Steel is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Driver to join our warehouse team. The Forklift Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of steel materials within our facility, including crucial duties related to loading and unloading incoming and outgoing trucks. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, excellent attention to detail, and a solid understanding of warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck – specify types if applicable) safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve steel materials and products.
- Accurately and safely load outgoing trucks with finished steel products, ensuring proper securing and documentation.
- Efficiently and safely unload incoming trucks, verifying received materials against manifests and inspecting for damage.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas, production lines, and shipping/receiving docks.
- Perform pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other equipment, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain organized and clean work areas within the warehouse.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and accurate record-keeping of material movements.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members, production staff, and truck drivers to ensure smooth operations.
- Other duties as assigned to support warehouse and production needs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing, warehouse, or steel environment.
- Valid Forklift Certification preferred
- Proven ability to safely and accurately load and unload various types of trucks.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, work orders, and safety instructions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly, stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for inventory scanning/data entry preferred.
- Familiarity with steel products and material handling best practices is a plus.
