The Applied Data Science & AI team plays a critical role in the brand differentiation strategy, using deep knowledge of the technology job market to produce best-in-class classification and matching models that technologists and recruiters trust. 

About the role:

As the Manager, Data Science you will lead a cross-discipline team with expertise in machine learning, machine learning operations, ontology, and data science to apply machine learning (ML) and other data science related techniques to improve user experiences and decision making. As the leader of this team, you will be responsible for shaping the team, providing guidance on career growth, mentoring, designing ML algorithms and architecture and influencing our product vision.

Once hired, you will:

  • Assess the current ML/AI practices, development processes, and team dynamics to identify quick wins and areas for improvement
  • Take ownership of the team’s high priority work.
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to prioritize a roadmap of high-impact ML/AI initiatives that can be delivered in short, valuable increments
  • Drive the successful delivery of incremental ML/AI product features that demonstrate immediate customer value and business impact

As you progress in this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with partners in Product to establish longer term roadmaps and goals.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team culture focused on pragmatic problem-solving and continuous delivery
  • Nurture strong cross-functional partnerships with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to create an efficient pipeline for identifying, prioritizing, and delivering AI-driven solutions that align with business objectives
  • Work to establish a vibrant and collaborative ML community across the organization.

What you bring to the team:

Required:

  • Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade machine learning models with a proven track record of rapid delivery and practical implementation
  • Strong technical skills using tools such as Generative AI, Python, NLP, LLMs, MLOps tools, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning principles, methodologies, and best practices to guide and evaluate technical work.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous situations, make informed decisions, and adapt based on feedback.
  • Ability to deliver value within a research-driven development environment by navigating its exploratory nature and collaborating effectively without predefined requirements or predictable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to balance the benefits and costs of simple versus complex solutions, ensuring outcomes align with project and organizational goals.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of complex data concepts and project goals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to make pragmatic technical decisions while growing a culture of continuous improvement and delivery.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a manager, including building, mentoring, and leading data science and machine learning teams to deliver impactful results.
  • Experience working with knowledge graphs, including their development, implementation, and application in solving complex data problems.
  • Proficiency in managing remote, distributed teams, promoting collaboration across different time zones, and supporting diverse team members with varying backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Experience managing multiple initiatives, including prioritization, resource allocation, and clear communication of expectations, goals and progress.

Remote (US-only) pay range: Base salary/pay per year, plus 15% annual bonus at 100% of plan targets tied to company and individual performance. Offer will depend on location and level of job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.

$180,000 - $210,000 USD
