Your role as Mental Health Specialist (ER & Crisis)
Dialogue is looking for a Mental Health Specialist (ER & Crisis) to take part in our mission to help people improve their wellbeing. Working closely with Annabel Tremblay, Interim Manager, Mental Health Specialist, your role will be to support and provide a high-quality experience to Dialogue members. A Mental Health Specialist (ER & Crisis) can have a background/experience in social work, crisis intervention and/or short-term coaching. They are specialized in mental health and provide an empathetic approach to interventions. They provide comfort and create a safety net with patients feeling particularly unwell.
What you’ll be doing:
- Help de-escalate patients' sense of distress so they are able to continue with the intake process
- Contact patients who indicate/present an imminent risk to their life or that of others during triage
- Complete suicidal and homicidal risk assessments
- Ensure that patients are not in danger and help them create safety plans
- Complete patients' navigation to other resources complementary to our services
- Grow our bank of pamphlets aimed at mental health concerns
- Responsible for patient safety in your member-facing role
We’d love to hear from you, if you have:
- A bachelor's degree in a mental health or human relations field
- 2+ years of intervention experience related to mental health services
- Availability to work a minimum of 8 hours (up to 32 hours) per week, and on evenings (up to 10:30pm) and weekends
- Comfortable managing suicidality and assessing risk factors
- A very good knowledge of crisis, emergency and mental health resources
- A desire to work in an environment that encourages autonomy, professionalism and versatility
- Attracted by an innovative environment, as well as an ease with computer tools
Please note that as we serve customers across Canada, bilingualism is essential for this position. You may be required to communicate in French and English.
