About the team
The Telephony Platform team maintains a complex set of APIs and microservices that provide the backbone for real-time communications in Dialpad’s products. The team provides a reliable API for audio/video calling, text messaging, phone number management, spam detection and more. It is key to creating a stable and performant experience for a large volume of concurrent users. The Edge Team within Telephony is responsible for managing and securing the flow of communication between Dialpad on the one hand and our customers/carriers on the other. They ensure that the millions of calls and messages flowing through Dialpad every day are properly load balanced and distributed through Telephony resources. The Edge team puts great emphasis on optimizing for call setup speed, ensuring there are no call disruptions, and utilizing best practices for security.
Your role
As a Sr Software Engineer on the Telephony Edge team, you’ll use your experience building high scale production systems to develop and manage systems that handle signaling of our phone calls as calls come in or go out of our infrastructure.
What you’ll do
- Use a solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design to write software services that scale
- Use your demonstrated experience in large production backend systems to strategize and drive the roadmap for the feature areas you will own
- Use the knowledge gained in past roles to come up with robust testing and monitoring approaches for your services to ensure high quality, stability and reliability
- Partner with engineers across the globe in the Product, Mobile and Telephony teams on overlapping projects
- Use your communication skills to translate deeply technical concepts involving the state of the edge systems to stakeholders outside of the Telephony team
- Mentor other engineers on team best practices
