Role Description
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of FP&A to lead our financial planning and analysis function. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of our company by delivering insights that drive decision-making across the organization. Reporting to the CFO, the Director will manage our FP&A associate and collaborate closely with Analytics, Accounting, Product and Business Development teams to provide a clear picture of where our business stands today—and where it’s headed tomorrow.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the healthcare industry, particularly those who have worked in multi-site healthcare services, provider networks, or healthcare startups.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Financial Modeling & Forecasting
- Own and evolve our corporate and site-level financial models, ensuring they reflect current business realities and strategic goals.
- Drive the annual budgeting and long-range planning processes, aligning financial forecasts with company objectives.
- Regularly update models with actuals and scenario analyses to support agile decision-making.
Strategic Analysis & Business Insights
- Conduct deep-dive analyses into business performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate new initiatives, pricing strategies, and investment opportunities.
- Apply healthcare-specific knowledge to assess payer mix, reimbursement trends, patient volumes, and regulatory impacts.
Financial Reporting & Board Materials
- Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels.
Close Process & Budget Variance Analysis
- Collaborate with the Corporate Controller to ensure accurate and timely monthly closes.
- Lead a team that analyzes variances between actuals and budget, providing explanations and recommending corrective actions.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Manage and mentor the FP&A team, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement scalable FP&A processes, tools, and systems to support a high-growth environment.
Qualifications & Attributes
- 6–10 years of progressive experience in FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or corporate finance.
- 5+ years of management experience
- MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience in the healthcare industry strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of building and managing complex financial models in Excel (and a genuine enthusiasm for it).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hypothesis-driven mindset.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distill complex data into executive-level insights.
- Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments; startup experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounting principles and financial close processes.
- Experience with financial systems (e.g., NetSuite) is a plus.
- Programming experience (especially in Python) is a bonus, particularly for automation or advanced analytics.
- Comfortable building processes from the ground up and thriving in ambiguity.
