About the Role

The Senior Director, Publications and Medical Communications will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s medical communication strategy.

Reporting to the SVP, Global Medical Affairs, you will lead the development and dissemination of high-quality scientific and medical information to support the company’s products and pipeline. The role requires strategic vision, operational excellence, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Key Responsibilities

Publications Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive publication strategy aligned with corporate and medical objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for peer-reviewed journals and scientific congresses.
  • Ensure publications adhere to ethical and compliance standards (e.g., ICMJE guidelines, GPP).

Medical Communications:

  • Lead the development of medical communication materials, including slide decks, FAQs, and evidence-based responses for medical science liaisons (MSLs).
  • Drive the creation of educational tools and materials to support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute medical content for advisory boards, investigator meetings, and symposia.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Build and manage a high-performing publications and medical communications team, including internal staff and external vendors.
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and other key teams to ensure alignment of communication strategies with business objectives.
  • Provide strategic input to clinical trial design and data analysis to ensure impactful dissemination of study results.

Compliance and Quality:

  • Ensure all publications and medical communications are accurate, balanced, and consistent with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape and emerging data in the field.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Foster relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), external experts, and academic collaborators.
  • Represent the company at scientific and medical conferences and meetings.

Experience

  • Advanced degree in a scientific or medical discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent preferred).
  • Proven experience in developing and executing publication plans and medical communication strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial design, data interpretation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, concise messaging.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and adapt to evolving priorities.
