About the role:
The Team Lead is responsible for leading, directing, and managing a team to deliver on large, complex, multi-component features and products, requiring team collaboration and a clear view of our customers' needs. These projects often span domains and teams. The Team Lead understands DA products with both breadth and depth. The Team Lead also has HR responsibilities for the members of their team, giving continual feedback, writing reviews, and helping team members progress in their careers.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and manages a team of engineers to deliver high-quality and thoroughly tested solutions that follow our coding standards and organizational practices
- Able to break down work into achievable tasks for the team members
- Decomposes and sequences tasks across team members and communicates these tasks effectively both verbally and in writing
- Reduces project risk by understanding cross-team and cross-component dependencies
- Works collaboratively with other technical leaders, including product management and engineering leaders (feature leads, technical leads, and directors)
- Handles a scope of accountability and planning of three to six months
- Works with DA management to turn company strategy into actionable plans
- Contributes directly to project deliverables and new product features delivery, via design and implementation work. In doing so, acts as a role model within their team
- Responsible for team culture and morale, creating a positive work environment for all team members, including a culture of healthy feedback and mutual respect
- Responsible for improving team efficiency
- Provides regular feedback to team members to improve their productivity, quality, and overall impact. Collects inputs, writes, and presents annual performance reviews
- Helps team members grow, develop, and advance their careers
What We're Looking For:
- Has a broad and deep understanding of Daml and Canton
- MS or PhD in computer science or a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of scalable, distributed systems, and event-driven systems
- Strong architectural and systems leadership and design thinking
- Able to work across teams and geographies
- Able to accurately estimate projects
- Has in-depth knowledge in at least one of the functional programming languages, ideally Scala or Haskell
- Able to review code and program in multiple languages, including but not limited to Scala, Haskell, Java, Go, and Daml
- Fluent using Git and GitHub source code management tools
- Committed to delivering high-quality solutions
- A company leader in their domain of expertise. Competent in multiple domains of the Daml product and continually expanding their knowledge and expertise. Able to troubleshoot and optimize both within their domain.
