Job Title: Senior Research Associate
Location: Watertown, MA (onsite)

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our collaborative research team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an agile research environment, enjoys hands-on experimental work, and is motivated by the opportunity to manage efficient processes that support a diverse set of scientific and technological directions. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Cell Culture Leadership: Maintain, passage, bank, and distribute a variety of mammalian cell lines to support R&D programs.
  • Facility & Operations: Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the cell culture facility, including equipment care and restocking.
  • Sample & Inventory Management: Work with Operations to maintain robust tracking systems for cell lines, reagents, and consumables.
  • Assay Development & Execution: Perform immunology functional assays and cell line validation experiments.
  • Cell Line Engineering: Support CRISPR-based editing, transgene overexpression, and related projects to generate new cell line models.
  • Protein Production Support: Contribute to upstream protein expression workflows in mammalian cells.
  • Molecular Biology Support: Provide occasional assistance with molecular cloning and bacterial culture to support project needs.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field, and 2+ years of prior industry experience. 
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture -  proficiency with sterile technique and varied cell lines and growth formats (adherent and suspension).
  • Experienced in transfection methods, immunocytochemistry, and fundamental imaging techniques. 
  • Adept at sample tracking, inventory, and note-taking using ELN/LIMS systems.
  • Experience with immunology assays and/or functional cell-based assays preferred.
  • Experience with 3-D models (spheroids, organoids) is a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks that intersect R&D teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn new techniques.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including periodic weekend hours.
