QA Manager (Games)
QA Manager (Games) - Digital Eclipse
Emeryville, California
Salary + benefit package | On-Site Preferred
$90,000 - $110,000
The Company
Classic video games deserve better. At Digital Eclipse, we treat them with the same care and respect given to other artistic mediums. In its original incarnation in 1994, Digital Eclipse pioneered accurate video game re-releases, emulating vintage arcade games well before “emulation” was a household word. 30 years later, we’ve been reborn as a new kind of studio - one dedicated to not only restoring gaming’s heritage, but to preserving it and keeping it alive and available for future generations.
We've launched critically acclaimed titles like Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, and Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, while also developing successful original IPs like #IDARB and collaborating with industry leaders such as Capcom and Disney. And we're just getting started.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced QA Manager to own and evolve the QA strategy across our entire game portfolio. This role is responsible for how QA is planned, executed, measured, and communicated across multiple concurrent projects, working closely with Production, Engineering, Design, and external partners to ensure our games ship stable, polished, and on time.
This is a player-first, systems-oriented role with a focus on QA process ownership, standards, and cross-project leadership. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of hands-on QA experience, leadership judgment, and production-savvy thinking, and is comfortable operating in a lean, collaborative studio environment.

- Own the QA strategy, standards, and workflows across all active console and PC projects
- Define quality expectations across the full development lifecycle, from pre-production through post-launch
- Establish consistent QA methodologies, test planning, tooling, and reporting practices
- Partner with Production, Engineering, and Design to embed QA into development workflows and release planning
- Balance risk, scope, and timelines to support informed, player-first shipping decisions
- Oversee test coverage for functionality, regression, performance, compliance, and platform certification
- Prioritize bugs based on player impact, severity, and release goals across multiple projects
- Manage external QA vendors as needed, including scope definition, quality benchmarks, and output review
- Track and communicate quality metrics and trends to drive continuous improvement and leadership decision-making
Must Haves
- 5+ years of game QA experience, including lead or management responsibility
- Strong understanding of 1st party submission requirements and guidelines
- Experience shipping multiple commercial titles on console and/or PC
- Strong understanding of the full game development lifecycle
- Deep familiarity with bug tracking systems and QA workflows
- Experience working cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Design
Bonus Points
- Passion for video games, especially retro games
- Ability to commute or willing to relocate to the Emeryville, California area
- Experience managing or coordinating external QA vendors
- Certification or direct experience with console submission and compliance
- Experience in a multi-project or multi-studio environment
Compensation, Benefits + Perks:
