M1 – Engineering Lead - Decoupling

Objective of the Role 

Responsible for leading the architectural evolution of legacy backends, transitioning from a monolithic structure to a fully decoupled microservices-based ecosystem. This role focuses on designing and implementing scalable backend architectures that enhance flexibility, maintainability, and performance. The Engineering Lead will drive the strategy for decoupling, ensuring best practices in microservices migration while maintaining security and regulatory compliance. Works closely with internal teams to enable an efficient, modular, and high-performing backend infrastructure that supports the organization’s growth as an aggregator and acquirer in the financial sector. 

Main Responsibilities 

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate the Decoupling development team, ensuring alignment with the overall backend migration strategy. 

• Define and execute a structured roadmap for transitioning from a monolithic architecture to microservices, enabling greater scalability and maintainability. 

• Design, implement, and optimize backend microservices architectures in collaboration with solution architects and technical leaders. 

• Establish integration patterns to ensure seamless communication between microservices while maintaining performance, security, and compliance with banking industry standards. 

• Drive backend decoupling initiatives, breaking down complex systems into modular components that facilitate agile development and operational efficiency. 

• Define and enforce backend development best practices, including resilience, observability, and system reliability. 

• Work closely with infrastructure and security teams to ensure robust deployment strategies, leveraging containerization, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. 

Required Knowledge and Experience 

• 7+ years of backend development experience, including 1-2 years in leadership or mentoring roles. Experience in the banking or financial sector is required. 

• Proven expertise in backend architecture, system decoupling, and large-scale microservices migration. 

• Strong technical skills in Java and backend-focused development. 

• Deep understanding of API-driven architectures, containerized environments, and infrastructure scalability. 

• Proficiency in secure development practices, automation, and CI/CD tools (Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions). 

• Experience designing and implementing resilient, high-performance backend systems in a regulated environment. 

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to lead complex architectural transformations. 

• Fluent in English.
