Position Overview:
Diligent is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join our Global team and help shape the future of Product Content. We’re looking for someone who combines technical documentation expertise with a passion for modern, in-product content experiences, and AI-powered knowledge delivery. The ideal candidate will not only create comprehensive documentation for Diligent products but will also drive forward–thinking strategies, systems, and processes that transform how we enable our users.
This role is perfect for someone who sees content as more than just documentation – it's a strategic UX component that can shape product experience. You’ll need to rapidly develop breadth and depth of expertise in our products and services while synthesising technical information into clear, contextual communication that enables users to quickly get value from our products. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones. You’ll take ownership over your area, driving the content creation process and working independently to ensure successful delivery from start to finish.
While experience in all areas isn’t required, we’re looking for candidates who are excited about expanding beyond the traditional help documentation into in-product, contextual, AI-assisted content experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Write clear, concise, complete, and correct content for new and existing software products, spanning traditional documentation, in-product content, and contextual help experiences. Author content for multiple mediums, including online help, user interfaces, microcopy, tooltips, guided tours, APIs, and other in-product content experiences.
- Review, edit, and standardize UI microcopy and UX content to maintain consistency and quality across products.
- Collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, software engineers, QA, and others.
- Contribute to AI-powered initiatives.
- Interview subject matter experts, perform technical research, and test and validate software and prototypes to fully understand how to use and support them.
- Provide feedback to other team members and contribute to team standards and best practices.
- Communicate proactively, be able to self-manage, and meet deadlines. Articulate the organization’s vision. Independently take decisive action to support and enhance that vision.
- Actively seek out new opportunities to make strategic improvements, communicate value, and develop meaningful relationships.
Required Experience/Skills
- 5+ years of experience in professional writing, preferably in a technology or Saas environment, with a proven track record in creating user-centred content.
- A passion for excellence in communication, regardless of form. Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with an ability to adapt tone and style for global audiences and content type.
- Can provide 2 to 3 writing samples demonstrating ability to succeed in this role. (Samples may include technical documentation, UX writing, or in-product content).
- Demonstrates an interest in AI-powered content delivery.
- Forward thinking: develops a vision for what’s next and isn’t content to just maintain existing practices.
- Openness to and an enthusiasm for in-product content experiences (tooltips, onboarding guides, contextual help) rather than limiting focus on traditional help documentation.
- Writes clear, concise, complete, and correct technical content in a single sourcing environment using structured writing principles.
- Ability to edit and apply standards to the work of others, ensuring all communication has a consistent voice and meets our standards.
- Not content to sit around and await instructions. Constantly strives to improve information products and procedures for creating them.
- Experience working effectively in distributed team environments with strong self-management and time-management skills
- Working knowledge of version control systems such as GitHub.
- Experience with MadCap Flare or similar XML-based authoring tools.
- Willingness to learn in-product content platforms such as Pendo, WalkMe, Intercom, and embrace modern content delivery approaches.
