Senior Manager - Advertising Operations

Discord is the place for all things gaming.  With over 200M monthly active gamers and 1.5B hours of weekly playtime – Discord is the place where friends come to play games and hangout together.  To help gamers connect with games they love, we have launched a new Game Advertising and Marketing solution that enables game publishers and developers to run marketing campaigns on Discord that brings their games to gamers on Discord.

This is a founding position on our new Game Advertising and Marketing Solution business line at Discord. We are looking for someone who can quickly audit our current state, and jump in to building systems that will help support a rapidly scaling ad sales business. The ideal candidate for this role will be well-grounded in the digital ad industry – campaign operations, ad technology, measurement, and analysis – and at the same time excited by our efforts to invent entirely new formats, technologies, and methodologies. Candidates who are passionate about and experienced in the gaming industry, entertainment sector, and general marketplace will be especially well-positioned to ensure success of our client partners. 

This role will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and optimization of ad operations and team management for our small but mighty new ad operations unit. This role requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual who has experience at effectively staging up and managing campaigns to ensure they meet client goals, troubleshooting operational and technical issues, analyzing campaign performance, and creating client-facing reports and actionable insights/

  • What you'll be doing
    • Team and People Management: 
    • Lead and support a small, impactful team while also working hands-on for campaign execution, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
    • Partner with leadership to optimize team operations and plans for growth.
  • Build and Execute Campaign Management Systems: 
    • Collaborate with Account Executives and Account Managers to translate client goals into actionable campaign strategies.
    • Develop, execute, and optimize digital ad campaigns, ensuring accurate implementation of parameters like targeting, tracking, and budgets.
    • Build and refine systems for efficient campaign execution and deliver performance insights with actionable recommendations.
  • Crossfunctional Collaboration:
    • Act as the go-to expert on campaign best practices, supporting Account Executives, Account Managers, and clients.
    • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and technical teams to troubleshoot, optimize campaigns, and implement A/B tests for better outcomes.

What you should have

  • People Leadership
    • Proven experience managing small and growing teams, providing mentorship, and fostering team development (experience in ad operations is a plus but not required).
    • A collaborative leadership style with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and support hands-on work when needed.
  • Building and Developing Systems
    • Experience building systems, tools, or dashboards from scratch to drive operational efficiency and campaign success.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify gaps, create solutions, and implement scalable processes.
  • Ad Operations and Industry Expertise 
    • 7+ years of experience in digital advertising operations with proficiency in campaign execution (e.g., staging, creative coordination, optimization, and troubleshooting), ad technologies, campaign operations, and ad tracking/measurement methodologies. 
    • Experience collaborating with clients to understand their needs and deliver measurable value.
    • Proven ability to analyze campaign data, generate actionable insights, and collaborate with clients to deliver measurable value.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $208k to $250k + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
