Position Overview: DCI is hiring a full-time Dedicated Aide. The Dedicated Aide assists in the supervision and instruction of students with disabilities or special needs in a regular or special education classroom; observes and documents student progress; implements plans for instruction; and provides clerical support, as needed. Dedicated Aides at DCI also have afternoon duty posts and responsibilities to support after school programming. 

Salary Range: $36,771$42,179 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. (Associates, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent is highly preferred)
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
  • Ability to lift and carry orders and deliveries short distances.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in a school environment.
  • Comfortable in a Mac environment.
  • Able to draft and create documents and spreadsheets.

Key Qualities & Skills:

  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing an opportunity for students with disabilities or special needs to participate in classroom activities.
  • Support student’s independent achievement and growth through implementation of best practices.
  • Provide opportunities and support for children to understand, acquire, and use their tools to complete their work.
  • Reinforce the use of communication efforts of students with disabilities under the guidance of the instructional team to include self advocacy.
  • Implement academic instruction taught by a teacher for individuals or small groups for the purpose of meeting learning goals, as described by an IEP and/or district benchmarks.
  • Implement behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions; document progress.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in communication between school and home per a student’s IEP.
  • Confer with teachers on a regular basis for the purpose of assisting in evaluating the progress of students with disabilities or special needs and/or implementing IEP objectives.
  • Assist other staff members as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • When not supporting the department as a Dedicated Aide, you'll be required to:
    • Support teachers as an additional instructor in the classroom;
    • Teach courses and/or substitute teach as the sole instructor as necessary; and perform administrative duties for the department.
  • Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and
    students.
  • Commit to environmentally sustainable business practices.
  • Follow the Special Education teams Designated Aide expectations. 
  • Other duties as assigned, to include after school duty posts and support.
