
HS Instructional Coach - ELA (SY 25-26)

Position Overview: DCI is hiring a full-time HS ELA Instructional Coach. Instructional Coaches, along with Principals, the Chief Academic Officer, the IB Team and other leaders, will be the primary drivers of instructional coaching and development in alignment with our “IB for ALL Instructional Vision.” The Instructional Coach’s primary responsibility is to improve teacher practice in order to increase student outcomes. The coach, in partnership with other instructional leaders, will also create content-specific and IB aligned professional development, support teachers in unit and lesson planning, lead content team meetings and data/student work analysis cycles, conduct teacher observations and learning walks and provide feedback, support in the auditing, codifying and purchasing of curriculum and curricular resources, and supervise teachers.
Salary Range: $69,966 - $116,323 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- A Master's Degree in education or similar field is preferred.
- Experience coaching and leading teams preferred.
- Experience in urban education/diverse environments required.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level.
- Proven track record of student achievement in the classroom and as a teacher leader or instructional leader.
- Able to identify and describe effective instructional practices and provide feedback, coaching, and professional development to teachers to improve the quality of instruction.
- Experience in analyzing formative, summative and standardized assessment data.
- Understanding of and experience implementing both vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment.
- Experience with and willingness to engage in continual learning and research into instructional best practices.
- Experience supporting intervention programs for students with formal supports, and best practices in co-teaching and differentiating for student needs.
- Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Experience/training in the IB MYP/DP/inquiry-based curriculum framework preferred.
- Expertise in Common Core curriculum framework.
- Experience in language immersion environment: Bilingualism in Spanish, Chinese, or French is preferred.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory, and experience facilitating professional learning communities and professional development sessions.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and superior interpersonal skills to be able to build strong working relationships with teachers, school leaders, students and families, and other key stakeholders.

- Coaching and supervising content specific teachers, supporting teachers’ achievement of instructional goals in order to increase student outcomes.
- Articulating a clear instructional vision alongside the school-specific Principal and CAO, with a school-wide focus on data-driven, standards-aligned teaching and learning, rooted in a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
- Modeling strong instructional practice in the classroom and during professional development.
- Analyzing teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and examination of student work.
- Identifying trends in classroom observations in order to plan for content team meetings and professional development.
- Providing clear and direct feedback to teachers using the identified rubric and tracking student and teacher progress to assess coaching effectiveness.
- Developing teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple data sources to improve student learning.
- Supporting the auditing, codifying, writing and purchasing of strong curriculum and curricular resources.
- Attending professional development meetings, and training, on and off campus.
- Embracing Chinese, Spanish, and French cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students.
- Model the skills and attitudes of a global citizen by upholding the IB Learner Profile Traits in alignment with the DCI Agreements.
