CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

Purpose

This role performs all machining workflow tasks. Primary functions include set up, first article, and production runs on 5-axis CNC machining equipment. The position will construct suspension, powertrain, and chassis systems for automotive/aerospace/defense vehicles and components. As a CNC Machinist, you will work closely with leads, managers, and engineering to produce parts that meet the company’s quality standards.

2nd Shift: 3:30PM-11PM

The Role

  • •    Set up and operate CNC 5-axis mills to manufacture a high mix/low volume of Additively Manufactured parts. To include automotive/aerospace/defense vehicle platforms. Familiarity with Siemens and Heidenhain controllers is required.
    •    Participate in design process and provide manufacturing guidance for new parts and programs. Must be able to interpret drawings and understand GD&T.
    •    Contribute to innovative machining and work holding solutions related to additive manufacturing. Test and validate solutions, refine concepts, and assist in the patent process.

Basic Qualifications

  • •     5-axis CNC Machining/set-up experience.
    •     Necessary skills and abilities
    •    Proficient in probing for dynamic work offsets.
    •    Creating multiple work offsets
    •    Comprehensive understanding of interpreting and following detailed setup sheets and work instructions.
    •    Understanding of tolerances, surface finishes, and fits as per GD&T standards.
    •    Familiarity with machining various materials, including metals, alloys, and composites.
    •    Knowledge of cutting tool types, coatings, and applications.
    •    Ability to monitor tool wear, perform tool changes, and ensure optimal machining conditions.
    •    Ability to identify and resolve machining issues, including chatter, tool breakage, and dimensional inaccuracies.
    •    Proficient in adjusting wear offsets.
    •    Capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining high-quality standards.
    •    Understands and maintains professional boundaries and relationships with the team.
    •    Provide thorough written details for shift handoffs.
    •    Adhere to EHS requirements and company policies.
    •    Proficiency with Siemens controls, 5-Axis machining and Complex set-ups
    •    Able to quickly learn and gain proficiency with Heidenhain controllers and other advanced automation technologies
    •    Proficient with setup and operation of multi-pallet systems.
    •    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high mix/low volume part families.
    •    Adherence to use of MES System
    •    Moderate level of Microsoft 365
    •    Self-starter and strong ability to work independently.
    •    Identify and troubleshoot basic production blockers

Preferred Qualifications

  • •    In addition to Basic Qualifications
    •    Creating probe routines for dynamic work offsets
    •    Creative problem-solving for fixture design and process optimization.
    •    Proficient in CAD (NX preferred)

    •    Entry level 5-Axis programming
    •    Experience machining Additively Manufactured parts.
    •    5-Axis Gantry experience

Work Environment

  • 100% on-site on the machine shop floor
  • Moving parts, high noise level, electrical machine, hot and cold weather, dust and debris 

Pay Range

$28.85 - $39 USD
