Senior Materials and Process Engineer

Purpose
Own the definition, qualification, and implementation of all surface engineering in the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS).
The Role
- Optimize current finishing methods at Divergent
- Evaluate new finishing methods aimed at improving the external and internal surfaces of additively manufactured parts
- Own the development of surface engineering processes at Divergent, including but not limited to coatings, surface treatments, and finishing methods
- Collaborate with the automation, manufacturing, and quality team to implement new or improved surface engineering processes into production
- Engage with customers to understand surface engineering requirements and develop solutions
- Author and own all surface engineering specifications at Divergent
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in materials science, materials engineering, chemical engineering, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of related professional experience
- 3+ years of professional experience with anodization
- Able to carry up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D in materials science or chemical engineering
- Proven experience in authoring and revising materials and process specifications
- Experience with metallic surface engineering in an aerospace environment (e.g. plating, coatings, surface cleaning, finishing methods, etc.)
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of aerospace metals including nickel-based alloys, aluminum alloys, and ferrous alloys

Pay Range
$122,400 - $168,300 USD
