Purpose
Divergent is transforming manufacturing through our Adaptive Production System (DAPS), revolutionizing how complex structures are designed, built, and assembled. We are seeking a highly skilled Lead CMM Programmer to ensure the precision and quality of our manufactured components. This role is ideal for an experienced metrology professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and is eager to mentor technicians while driving continuous improvements in our measurement and inspection processes.
The Role
Metrology Leadership & Programming
- Own the development, optimization, and execution of CMM programs using PC-DMIS on Hexagon CMM systems to inspect high-precision components.
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines to perform dimensional inspections and analysis on additive manufactured parts.
- Analyze engineering drawings and GD&T to create robust, repeatable measurement strategies that ensure product quality.
- Collaborate with engineering, machine shop, and quality teams to enhance manufacturability and measurement efficiency.
- Develop and refine automated inspection processes, including integration with data analysis tools and manufacturing systems.
Mentorship & Training
- Train and mentor quality technicians and machinists on interpreting CMM reports, executing programs, and troubleshooting measurement discrepancies.
- Develop training materials and best practices documentation to standardize metrology procedures across the organization.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, ensuring team members understand the why behind measurement techniques and decisions.
Process Improvement & Technology Advancement
- Continuously evaluate and enhance measurement techniques, optimizing cycle times and increasing inspection efficiency.
- Partner on efforts to onboard and implement new metrology technologies, such as laser scanning, structured light, and non-contact measurement systems.
- Collaborate on the design and selection of custom fixturing to improve repeatability and ease of inspection.
- Ensure alignment with ISO 9001, AS9100, and IATF 16949 standards, driving compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.
- Advanced ability in CMM programming and metrology within a high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in PC-DMIS with a strong background in Hexagon CMM systems or equivalent.
- Deep understanding of GD&T principles and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve metrology-related manufacturing issues.
- Experience with standard measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and surface plate inspection.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to review data trends and recommend improvements.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills, with a passion for developing talent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in developing and mentoring teams in metrology, fostering technical growth and operational excellence.
- Hands-on experience with non-contact metrology, such as laser scanning or structured light measurement.
- Working knowledge of Python, C++, or VB to support automation and data analysis initiatives.
- Experience interfacing CMM data with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or statistical process control (SPC) software.
- Background in high-precision industries, such as aerospace, defense, or high-end automotive.

Pay Range
$155,540 - $213,840 USD
