Purpose
Divergent is seeking a Project Engineer to support Aerospace & Defense (A&D) programs. This role will facilitate and support cross-functional collaboration and execution in the design, analysis, and manufacturing of the growing A&D program portfolio to ensure projects meet technical and programmatic requirements. The Project Engineer will work closely with various stakeholders including engineering, manufacturing, and customers while supporting all aspects of the project lifecycle from conceptual design to production. More experienced candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Role
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to Divergent cross-functional teams during the design and development of A&D systems, subsystems, and components
- Act as a technical point of contact to customers and suppliers throughout the project, presenting and discussing DAPS application to A&D structures in meetings, technical exchanges, and design reviews
- Review engineering artifacts generated during the development cycle including structural analysis, technical drawings, and final reports for technical accuracy and completeness to program requirements
- Ensure all designs comply with government standards, quality requirements, and customer specifications
- Prepare, review, and approve design documentation including specifications, test plans, and manufacturing plans
- Develop and utilize Divergent Project Engineering tools to support the proposal, prototyping, and production stages of programs
- Assist in engineering and project planning tool development to enhance the growing capabilities of Divergent’s engineering teams
- Manage the planning, execution, and documentation of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience within the A&D industry
- Strong technical background in A&D programs, including familiarity with CAD software, basic structural analysis tools, and knowledge of applicable government standards
- Knowledgeable in aircraft structures, including design, analysis, manufacturing and qualification of airframe components and systems
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with fast-iteration hardware-prototyping programs
- Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams on A&D programs
- Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5 or more years of experience within the A&D industry
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing applications and robotic assembly systems
- Previous experience in technical leadership positions such as Chief Engineer or Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead
- Active DoD Security Clearance
Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels S03 - S04 as evaluated through our interview process.
- Specialist 3 / S03: $100,980 - $138,820
- Specialist 4 / S04: $116,600 - $160,325
