Purpose
The Senior Product Reliability Engineer (DTI) ensures that every product Divergent Technologies delivers performs reliably across its lifecycle. The position exists to align customer requirements, design intent, manufacturing capabilities, and verification methods—this will enable reliable products and robust processes. By proactively addressing risk across design, print, and assembly, and driving structured problem-solving to learn from failures, the Product Reliability Engineer enables Divergent to deliver innovative, reliable products at scale.
You will serve as a core team member of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), partnering with Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and others to translate customer and program requirements into validated, reliable outcomes. You will own the refinement and validation of quality deliverables for each product, the development of quality control plans, the management of critical design and process risks, and the investigation/resolution of failures and systemic issues.
The Role
- Act as the technical reliability partner to Program Management and within IPTs, translating customer requirements into product quality objectives and providing early feedback on manufacturability
- Define and manage customer-facing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables, including control plans, FMEA, and validation milestones
- Drive collaboration with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to develop robust Process Control Plans and verification strategies tied to critical-to-quality characteristics
- Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure key processes are validated and capable, using structured, data-backed methods
- Lead identification and mitigation of product and process risks, leveraging FMEA tools where appropriate
- Manage issue containment activities and lead structured Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts, especially around customer-facing or systemic failures
- Lead cross-functional issue and nonconformance reviews to identify trends, uncover root causes, and implement design or process changes
- Continuously refine and scale problem resolution systems and reliability engineering practices to support growing production volumes and complexity
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- 3+ years of experience in design, manufacturing, product reliability, validation/test, or quality engineering
- Experience solving complex, interdisciplinary problems in development and production using a disciplined problem-solving methodology
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently, lead cross-functional initiatives, and effectively communicate to a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies and failure analysis tools (e.g. Six Sigma, 8D, 5-whys, Fault Tree Analysis, fishbone, DOE)
- Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies, Process Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Experience launching complex new products from concept to production
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing, machining, and adhesive bonding
- Familiarity with automotive and/or aerospace products and requirements
- Experience with risk management, utilizing FMEA and other risk assessment tools
- Familiarity with Jira, SQL, PowerBI, and other data gathering / analysis tools
- Familiarity with NX/Teamcenter or similar CAD/design platforms
Work Environment
- Office and manufacturing floor environment
- Occasional travel to supplier sites, testing events, and other company facilities as required

Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer and Principal Engineer as evaluated through our interview process.
- Senior Engineer: $122,400 - $168,300
- Lead Engineer: $141,400 - $194,400
- Principal Engineer: $163,300 - 224,550
