Facilities Technician

Purpose
Divergent is seeking a hands-on Facilities Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our advanced manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of critical building systems that support our highly automated aerospace and automotive production environment.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, enjoys solving technical problems, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This position supports preventive maintenance, equipment installations, facility repairs, and emergency response while working closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, EH&S, and external contractors to maximize facility uptime. While primarily sited at Long Beach this position may occasionally work at our Torrance HQ as required.
The Role
Facility Maintenance & Operations
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, process cooling water, vacuum systems, and other building utilities.
- Monitor facility equipment to ensure reliable operation and proactively identify potential failures.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues affecting facility operations.
- Complete repairs while minimizing production downtime.
- Perform routine inspections of building systems and document maintenance activities.
Equipment Installation & Support
- Assist with installation, commissioning, relocation, and decommissioning of manufacturing equipment.
- Support facility modifications required for new production lines and manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate utility connections including electrical, compressed air, process water, and exhaust systems.
- Fabricate or modify facility fixtures and support equipment as needed.
Preventative Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain maintenance records and document completed work orders.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and support root cause investigations.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure facility systems comply with OSHA, environmental, and local building regulations.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and other safety procedures.
- Support emergency response activities including equipment failures and facility incidents.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in facility improvement projects that increase reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Support energy reduction and equipment optimization initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve preventive maintenance programs.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to improve facility performance.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, trade certification, or Associate's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of facilities maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience maintaining industrial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, or mechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS software.
- Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and working on ladders, lifts, or elevated platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or automation facilities.
- Working knowledge of:
- Industrial electrical systems (120V–480V)
- HVAC systems
- Compressed air systems
- Vacuum systems
- Process cooling water systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification.
- Welding, fabrication, or machining experience.
- Basic PLC or industrial controls troubleshooting experience.
- Experience working around robotic or automated manufacturing equipment.

Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels T01 - T02 as evaluated through our interview process.
- Facilities Technician I / T01: $27.00 - $33.00
- Facilities Technician II / T02: $31.00 - $38.00
