Lead and scale a compact, high-craft design team to build a truly digital-native Business Banking experience across web and mobile.

In this evolving leadership role, you will initially be closely involved in shaping how design work gets done, facilitating workshops, guiding product teams, and establishing strong design processes - while progressively building and developing a high-performing team.
Over time, your focus will shift toward a balanced mix of design leadership, team development, and organizational impact.

{ your_responsibilities: [

• Define, own and evolve the Business Banking design vision and principles; document and socialise them across Product and Engineering to ensure consistent execution.
• Lead and scale a small, embedded design team (to ~5–6 designers) across multiple product teams, including hiring, onboarding, and defining ways of working from an early stage.
• Own the development, performance, and growth of designers through structured feedback, goal setting, and career progression frameworks.
• Partner closely with research teams to ensure continuous insight generation and integration into product decisions.
• Actively advocate for design, influencing stakeholders and making its value visible across Product, Business, and Engineering.
• Facilitate workshops, design sprints, and alignment sessions to guide teams toward high-quality solutions.
• Drive and ensure experimentation to improve key product KPIs, and communicate insights and impact to senior stakeholders.
• Raise overall design maturity and craft standards across the team.
• Ensure a healthy, engaged team environment and sustainable ways of working.
• Foster strong cross-location collaboration, including regular in-person touchpoints, to build a cohesive Berlin–Valencia design culture.

{ following_qualifications_would_be_in_line_with_our_desired_profile_for_this_position: [

• 7+ years of product design experience, including at least 2 years in a people lead or manager role (or equivalent leadership + craft combination).
• Proven experience building and scaling design teams, ideally in ambiguous or early-stage environments
• Experience leading design across multi-platform products (web + mobile), ideally in fintech or banking contexts
• Strong portfolio showing research driven design decisions and measurable product impact.
• Demonstrated success in people management, coaching, and building high-performing teams.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions
• Experience working closely with research and data, and using insights to inform decisions.
• Deep expertise with Figma (FigJam, Figma Make) and working with design systems and component driven implementation.
• Fluent in German and English (spoken and written).
• Nice to have: Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT/Codex) productively in design workflows.
• Nice to have: Basic understanding of frontend component libraries and development workflows.
