  • Design, develop, and maintain study databases and data management processes, including data collection instruments, validation rules, data specifications, data cleaning procedures, and data transfer processes.
  • Perform advanced SAS programming to clean, transform, validate, integrate, and manage complex research datasets and develop reusable and automated programming solutions.
  • Develop and execute data quality and validation procedures, including programmed data checks, data reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, and independent QC of datasets, programs, and deliverables.
  • Integrate and reconcile data from multiple sources, ensuring consistency, completeness, traceability, and appropriate documentation of data transformations and decisions.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data management and programming staff, including work planning, risk identification, technical guidance, and promotion of consistent programming and QC practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure compliance with study requirements, organizational SOPs, applicable regulatory and privacy requirements, and established data management and programming standards.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in computer science, health sciences, or other related field; seven or more years of experience with programming and data management in health research. OR,
  • M.S. degree in computer science, health sciences, or other related field; five or more years of experience with programming and data management in health research.
  • Advanced SAS programming capabilities, including extensive experience with DATA and PROC steps, macro programming, data transformation and integration, complex data validation, and development of efficient, reusable programming solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex research data, preferably within clinical, observational, epidemiologic, or other biomedical research studies.
  • Strong understanding of the full research data lifecycle, including study start-up, database development, data collection, data cleaning, reconciliation, quality control, data delivery, and database closeout.
  • Experience integrating and reconciling data from multiple sources, with the ability to identify and resolve complex data issues while maintaining data integrity, traceability, and appropriate documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex data management and programming activities, including defining technical approaches, managing competing priorities, identifying risks, and delivering high-quality work within established timelines.
  • Strong quality assurance and attention to detail, including experience developing and implementing QC procedures and independently reviewing data, programming code, datasets, and other technical deliverables.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary research teams, communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, and provide guidance to less experienced data management and programming staff.
  • Experience with additional programming and data technologies, such as R, Python, SQL, database architecture and development, Git or other version control systems, APIs, and/or other tools used to develop efficient, scalable, and automated research data workflows is highly desirable.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
