DLR Group's Denver, CO office has an opening for a Client Leader, Workplace.
As a Client Leader, you will serve as a primary catalyst for the sector’s growth in Denver, blending high-level business development with a relentless commitment to design excellence. You are responsible for identifying and capturing transformative project opportunities, leveraging deep industry relationships to turn prospects into long-term partners. By steering the RFQ and interview process with a visionary approach, you won't just respond to the market—you will help shape it, ensuring our firm remains at the forefront of the integrated design practice.
Internally, you are a culture-builder and a mentor. You will bridge the gap between global strategy and local execution, collaborating with senior leadership to set the firm’s annual trajectory while simultaneously rolling up your sleeves to hire, inspire, and develop "best-in-class" talent. This role is for a practitioner who is as passionate about winning the work and building a powerhouse team as they are about the craft of design itself.
What you will do:
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Set the Vision: Partner with the Region Leader, Regional Sector Leader, and Global Sector Leader to develop and execute the annual business plan and long-term growth strategies.
- Win the Work: Proactively identify new project opportunities and lead the pursuit process, including high-level relationship building and steering the RFQ/interview strategy to capture market share.
- Client Stewardship: Act as a strategic advisor to clients, moving beyond project management to build deep-rooted, long-term partnerships that secure repeat business.
- Market Presence: Elevate the firm’s brand through active leadership in industry organizations (AIA, SCUP, ULI, etc.) and participation in regional sector initiatives.
Design Excellence & Project Strategy
- Lead Best-in-Class Design: Direct the planning and design of major projects, ensuring every outcome meets the highest standards of innovation and aesthetic excellence.
- Collaborative Practice: Champion our "Fully Integrated Design Practice," ensuring seamless collaboration across disciplines to deliver holistic, award-winning solutions.
- Strategic Oversight: Negotiate high-stakes client contracts and manage project scope and budget through a strategic lens, ensuring financial health without compromising design integrity.
People & Culture
- Hiring & Talent Strategy: Lead the recruitment and onboarding of top-tier talent, ensuring the team is staffed with high-performers who align with our design-forward culture.
- Mentorship & Growth: Cultivate the next generation of leaders through active mentoring, providing clear performance feedback, and fostering an environment of continuous learning.
- Resource Management: Collaborate with Project Managers to optimize staffing, ensuring the right talent is matched with the right opportunities to maximize both professional development and project success.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or related construction field (Professional licensure preferred)
- At least 10 years of professional experience in the AEC industry, inclusive of at least 5 years in a client-facing role
- Strong understanding of business management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership
- Knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment, quality standards, and customer satisfaction
- Expertise in design techniques and tools for producing technical plans, drawings, and models
- Familiarity with building methods, materials, and systems for construction and renovation projects
- Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to actively listen, understand others' perspectives, and respond thoughtfully in conversations
- Licensed Architect in Colorado

The suggested pay range for this position is:
Pay Range
$103,000 - $159,000 USD
