Our Staff Cloud Architect will be an integral part of our Client Services team in LATAM. This role is based remotely in Colombia ideally in or around Bogota.

The Opportunity

Staff Cloud Architects (SCAs) manage a team of up to 10 highly skilled Cloud Architects, overseeing day to day activities working with customers and sales. SCAs execute on departmental initiatives and support team development, working closely with their teams to understand and achieve their goals. SCAs support departmental alignment coordinating between the different teams, territories and regions to ensure consistent and high quality customer experiences.

You will be the first technical leader expert on the ground - a unique opportunity to shape and build DoiT cloud consulting practice in LATAM.

This is a player-coach role with 30/70 split between leadership and hands-on work.

Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Hire, onboard and manage team of Cloud Architects specializing in container orchestration, data and analytics, machine learning, cost optimization
  • Empower your team to become the best version of themselves, challenge them technically, support them in achieving their professional career goals

Service Delivery for Digital-Native Companies

  • Enable your team to guide customers on how to configure and deploy their products or services on AWS infrastructure
  • Act as an escalation point and provide technical assistance to customers on innovative and complex cloud topics

Cross-department

  • Closely work with our sales and marketing team to evangelize AWS products and services by organizing events such as meetups, workshops, immersion days, etc. with a goal of knowledge sharing and education
  • Impact product strategy by consolidating team’s feedback
  • Work with your peers from within the global team across departments: sales, customer success, people operations, etc.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Language Proficiency
    • Verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Leadership Experience
    • Proven people leadership or technical leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to guide and mentor teams.
  • AWS Expertise 
    • 10+ years of hands-on experience architecting, developing, and troubleshooting large-scale, production-grade distributed systems on AWS. 
    • This includes selecting and implementing appropriate AWS services to address complex business challenges.
  • Consulting/Managed Services
    • 5+ years of experience in technical consulting or managed services, preferably with a focus on solutions architecture in pre-sales or post-sales roles.
  • Cloud Partnerships
    • Experience working with major cloud partners, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Team Development
    • Passion for developing individuals and fostering a highly engaged team environment.
  • Problem Solving & Communication
    • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a strong sense of ownership and drive.
    • Ability to handle high impact and escalated client issues and see them through to resolution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Extensive experience working cross-functionally with departments such as Sales and Product.
  • Deep Expertise in one of the following AWS Domains:
    • AWS AI/ML: Building and deploying machine learning models using services like Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Rekognition, and Amazon Forecast.
    • AWS GenAI: Building and deploying Generative AI models using services like Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker Jumpstart, and related services.
    • AWS Data Analytics: Deep understanding and practical experience with AWS data analytics services, including Amazon Athena, Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, Amazon QuickSight, and Amazon EMR.
    • AWS Data Engineering: Designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes using services like AWS Glue, Amazon Kinesis, AWS Lambda, and Amazon S3.
    • AWS Databases: Designing and managing various database solutions on AWS, including Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server), Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon ElastiCache.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience across multiple AWS domains listed above.
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
  • Experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
